We need 2 more buttons at the bottom one for C64 emulator and the other for the Vic-20 emulator in VICE so you can make snapshots(vsf files) or just a VICE button and a box comes ups and you press on the one you want to run C64 or VIC-20. THEC64 Maxi Game Tool has them buttons too but they come up in a box, it under the button VICE, I actually made the buttons, I made them look like the keys on the C64 keyboard..

Hi,
I have tried to add a TAP file (Jet Pac) but the manager refuses to run it.....
VICE error
Extra Arguments on command-line: taps\jet pac.tap -autostart-handle-tde +truedrive =joydev1
I was really hoping that TAP files can be run because snapshot files are useless with multi parted taps for exampl
I think the proggie needs an extra handle for TAP files, i really hope you can fix this
And i was very eager if the memory expansion would work because that did not work on the old Gametool, but the old gametool DID try to load a TAP file correct but had no memory for it
Regards
Sjakie43
I found the problem: The file name cannot have a space in the name, the command to Vice was not correct in this case. It should work if you rename it to "jetpac.tap". I will do a fix so that it handles spaces also in the name. I think the memory expansion flags works correctly for the vic 20 emulator. You can see what the command sent to Vice looks like in the pcusb.log.

Hello,
I'm very happy to see that the vic20 TAP games work ok now
One thing i would like to see is some more genre's like arcade/misc etc etc
Are there more sites coming for the scraping btw ? moby doesn't have a lot of vic20 games on it.....does not even have Mower Mania (VIC20)

I just replicated the genres that the Maxi game tool defines. Do anyone know if the genre can be anything in the carousels, or is there a fixed numbers/predefined ones? MobyGames have some generes that doesn't match the ones available.
Also, are there any good sites for Vic 20 games information? I will try to add more sites later on to the scraper.

You could try this site... gamesdb.launchbox-app.com I used it to get some of the descriptions for the Vic 20 games I added. I have a look at the Carousel and see if you can put in a different genre and see if it shows it.

The genres are in the Carousel code, so can only use the ones it excepts that in there now(unless RGL add more to the Carousel), I tried to add "E:action" to the games tgs file and it don't show any genre in the game on the Carousel but if you put "E:adventure" then Adventure appears so you can't add any more.

Hello! Thanks for all your great work on this project--both the PCU and the Game Manager seem amazing.
Sorry for being a bit dense (I'm new at this), but is there a thread somewhere that walks through the step by step process of adding/removing games from the PCU Carousel using the latest version of the Game Manager and making sure everything is sorted appropriately (e.g. in the A-G, H-R, Favorites folder, etc.)? I got 1.0.1 to run and have been poking around--I can add a new game and get the scraper to work, but I'm not sure how to get it in the proper folder and then transfer the changes I make back to USB and have it run properly on the Maxi.
Thanks again and Happy New Year!

Hello,
I was just looking at the Game Manager again......
All Games 121 (i added jetpac and Mower Mania) A-G 119 Games H-R 121 Games
S-Z 119 Games Vic 20 2 Games
Is the program not sorting the games by name properly ?

Yes, there was a bug when game views where read from the database, all filters ended up in the "any filters" table. I fixed it now: 1.0.2
There's probably more bugs also, I'll try to fix them when discovered. I will look into adding a button for launching Vice to be able to create snapshots soon.

Hello,
I noticed that the screenshots that i use (from GamebaseVic20) are 544x283(some of them a bit less) are showing ok in the Gametool. When the Triangle lights up and i use the built in function to crop a screenshot it shows only a part of the screenshot. But when i replace it with the one i originally added before cropping it shows perfect(centered)
Is there something wrong with the crop function?
Or are these cropped screenshots that show wrong in the Gametool showed ok on THEVIC20 ?
Regards
Sjakie43
ps:Also i noticed that TAP games for the VIC20 are working ok but when i use a Prg file instead of TAP from the same game its not working, why is that? (because some of the TAP games of the VIC20 have a prg file also in Gamebasevic20)
I will investigate further.......

I've added 20 games to the database and the scrape has worked brilliantly but I could use a step-by-step guide on amending the current carousel games list. I've added games manually before but I assume that the Game Manager can help with iths process?

There seems to be a possible bug with screenshots for Vic20.
I added one Vic20 game and scraped screenshots on Moby (Great).
I exported to a TEST directory. Games/Screens, Files are named without a space e.g. stardefence-00.png
I copied the content of TEST to the Carousel games Vic20 Directory.
My game Star Defence appears in the carousel and can be launched but the screenshots seem to be from the game -1 and Game -2 in the carousel.
Do I need to name the game with no spaces so there is no mismatch or is there a screenshot bug in 1.01?
I will create my USB from scratch and try 1.02 now.

I tried again with 1.02 and managed to get images to load but they are cropped incorrectly.
Is there a way to scale the scraped images correctly in the game manager to the correct resolution or is it best to scrape, export then manually resize?

Hi,
Thanks for testing the Vic20 functionality. I have not tested that myself since I only use the C64. When it comes to the screenshots and the crop function it assumes that the resolution is as for the c64 screens (384x272 for a screenshot), which is not the case for Vic-20. it seems to be 544 x 284 when saving in Vice, but some screenshots on MobyGames are 586x284...
So I need to do some changes for it to work with the vic-20 screenshots. I will look into this.
Anyone know what the possible resolutions are for Vic-20? Is it possible to run with different resolutions?

My guess is that 544x284 is the right choice because GamebaseVic20 is the standard (screenshots)

How To make a VICE Snapshot(VSF) and add it to the game to PCUGM, add the game you want to PCUGM and add its D64 or Tap file to it then press Run Game to run the game in VICE and then save the snapshot of the game in VICE where you want it saved and tick the 2 boxes and save it now add the new VSF file you just made to the game in PCUGM and your done..

I had some fiddling inserting some VIC20 games and have come to this::::
PRG files work but stop working in the game manager after a few times.dunno why When putting a game on a D64 the game works fine and it keeps on working fine. so that's good
The reason why i am checking this is because i want to choose a efficient way of playing games for the Vic20. :
1) TAP files when no other file is available
2) TAP files that have a replacement file in GamebaseVic20 , PRG files mostly i think, i want to use the PRG files (i will put on a D64)
3) CRT files i will check, also the prg-a000 files that some games have
4) T64 files i will check
I Like checking

When you Export all games in the list you have to click on each one(that's a lot if there over 200 games), you need to add a button for Select all so the whole list is selected.

I tried to export all games but it's not sorted ready to use with the gametool.maybe it is but it's not sorted A-G etc etc
All files are in "games"
.....ahh wait.... i have to choose A-G in the popup and then copy it to the A-G folder in the Gametool folder.
working on it........

When editing a game and editing the Game Tile, Year, Author, Composer and Description if you want to edit a word or number it allows you to do one character then the cursor(|) jumps to the end of the line or end of the description.
Like the Year ..
1999 so put cursor here.. (|) cursor
199|9 to change it to 1989 when you press backspace to delete 9 then it says..
199 and then the cursor end up after the number..
199| so if you press 8 to make it say 1989 it then says..
1998| the cursor should be here..
19|9 The cursor should stay were you put it not jump to the end of the line.

You can't edit the Game Title if the game is in the PCUGM already..? I wanted to change the games name "Great court" cause "court" is meant to be "Court" not "court", it needs a capital C, its saying name it a different name, I know it sounds a bit silly but I thought I report it anyway..

Everything in PCUGM don't need to work with TCMGT, I wanted PCUGM made to replace it, that why its now removed from PCUAEv1.20, it up to lantzelot if he wants to add support for it.

You can get PCUGMv101 here too and all games are added from PCUAE and are all sorted. I sorted out A - G to 0 - G.. has a shortcut in it too but you have to right click on it and click properties and edit the location of the "PcuGameManager.exe" file for it to work. All Gamelists names have changed and named after the Carousel Gamelist Screen in PCUAE, can't rename Favorites. You can download PCUAE from the same folder too, it in PCUAE Zipped folder and its just been updated, it named PCUAEv1.20b3.exe, its a self extract archive, made by 7zip so you can unzip it with 7Zip too, its not a zip no more cause 7zip compress it into a smaller achieve and less errors and makes it easer to extract it, for Windows uses cause you can only use a PC to copy it to a USB Stick safely without errors anyway or in Linux, you can use Wine to run the exe file or the unarchive program that comes with Linux.

Thank you, i have downloaded it
But.... how do i get it to work on the VIC20 ? you say it's a replacement so just copy it to usb stick ? It is a PC application not to be run on TheVic20. Run it on PC. Add games to the database. Export selected games to folders on your pc and then copy these folders to the correct folders on the USB with PCUAE installed on it e.g. D:\Carousel_Games\Games\VIC20
