its all in the manual... HERE page 6. Look for `How to add a game to the 0_fav/games folder` I understand, thanks.
Makes sense as it's not meant for adding new games, rather copying games from other folders.
I was panning on using it as an additional Gamelist folder for games not in the other Gamelists as they are pretty full right now.

Very nice Carousel, works perfect as far as i can see . I have only 1 noob question: Is there an option to add games to the favorites list from within the carousel or has it to be done manually on the PC ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have found it in the manual but thats too much for me.........
Will there be an easier way adding to favorites from the Carousel in the future?

Yes you have to do it manual but will be able too soon do it using THEC64 Maxi Game tool too, the 0-fav folder will have 2 folders in `favgames1` for how its organized now and `favgames2` for adding them with THEC64 Maxi Game Tool, you will have to switch them cause the `favgames1` will be set as default, `favgames2 will have no games in only CGS info and Fibr so it will need 6 games or more added to it before you use it casue if its lower than that it will crash the carousel.

Btw, will there also be an more extensive Vic20 games Collection in the Carousel?
I can easily sum up 100+ games for the Vic20 i would like to play
I forgot the MOSt important thingie......Megacart rom emulation (Vice) ? I have the Real Megacart but i also have a Backup on my PC that works great in Winvice. That would be the cherry......

Mega Cart don't work on THEC64 Maxi/THE VIC 20, you can load it as a snapshot and its menu works but none of the games load, in the snapshot it see the rom file as a basic crt file, you can't load a rom file and it don't see it as a Mega Card, RGL need to put in support for the Mega Card.
The only games that will be there are from THE VIC 20, I never had a VIC 20 so finding it hard adding games, and what games to add, I need help from someone who is willing add games to the Vic 20 screen, if I did it it would take to long and stop me working on PCUAE v1.20 code.

Are you getting that error in THEC64 Maxi Game Tool when your trying to click on its cover, try it in THEC64 Maxi/THE VIC 20, it might load ok in the Carousel.

Tried the Carousel just now and after clicking it i get the Vic20 Basic Screen
Gorf.crt.gz is in the Games folder, or does it need vsf instead of crt ? just wild guessing.....
Gorf.crt.gz is the file that is created when added the crt file in the Gametool

Load Gorf in VICE and make a snapshot of it and when saving it to a vsf file tick the 2 tick boxes at the bottom of the save dialog then use the vsf file and added it Gorf in THEC4 Maxi Game Tool and it should work in the Carousel. The games I added to the VIC 20 screen were snapshots vsf files and prg files, cause they were easier to load and they worked, I think some were crt too Donkey Kong was but turned them all into snapshot files. I think I got them from here. thec64community.online/thread/459/vic20-games-thec64-maxiThanks BTW..

Hi Again,
Cartridges are working now as described on your last post.
So if no one objects or has already done it i would like to make a Cartridge section for the Vic-20 Carousel.
I noticed that the covers are quite small in size in the Vic-20 Carousel but when i convert the covers i have in Gamebase Vic20 (jpg>png) they are quite big qua size.
Can you recommend a converter so i can check it out ?
Ahh, i see it now.... the Gametool converts the cover to a smaller size so thats good
So i can make snapshots, i have screenshots , i need to convert some covers to png.
Maybe someone can write some game descriptions for all Vic-20 Cartridge Games ?
Ready to go if no one objects

No thats fine with me... thanks.. I use Paint in Windows to change jpg files to Png files then put them in TCMGT.. I wait and once you completed them I add them to PCUAE v1.20 and then release it.. take your time no rush.

Cartridge Games work now in the Carousel so thats good.
Covers that i have i can convert from jpg to png so thats good, but thay are an average of 60 to 70kb.Isnt that too big ?
Screenshots that i have are perfect.
I only need help from someone to add the description texts for the games.

Hi, I have a serious problem with the PCU and the Mini ... I run the fake update, then the PCU appears and, as an example, I try to control the selection using the CTRL + 0 key, but nothing happens! Furthermore, my mini does not boot again with the PCU after switching it off, although my stick was formatted in MBR mode. The carousel from the original firmware (1.3.2) appears. The stick is connected to an original USB port of the mini and not via a hub, so it can't be the problem!Any ideas what could be wrong?

There is no shortcut for CTRL-0(not yet, there will be to boot into the firmware in PCUAEv1.20) to change Carousel Gamelist Screens CTRL-1,2,3,4,5, Autoboot and the F Keys, They are F1 The Carousel v1.0.5, F3 The Carousel v1.3.2, F5 Restart, F7 THEC64 X-Windows Mod.
Could you of disabled Autoboot by accident, CTRL-7 to enable CTRL-8 to disable...?
Remember on THEC64 Mini PCUAE is slower than on THEC64 Maxi, so it will be slower at changing Carousel Gamelist Screen or changing the carousel so give a chance to change and don't press the shortcut twice thinking its not doing anything.

I tried again and also found that I wrote something wrong yesterday .... I meant the keys ctrl + # (1-5) ... Unfortunately nothing happens when I press the key combination, I also don't accidentally have the autoboot function turned off ... any idea what the problem might be?

When you press ctrl and the number, are you holding them down together for 2 seconds? It takes a couple of seconds to register

Yes, I keep the buttons pressed for at least 2 seconds, as stated in the instruction on the right in the window. But no reaction.

Remove all usb devices except usb stick and usb Keyboard and boot PCUAE and the keys should work then, I think THEC64 Mini need to see the keyboard first, sometimes it see the joystick first then the shortcuts stop working, It works on my THEC64 Mini with a USB Keyboard, Hopefully this will be sorted in the next version cause you be able to use your own buttons from the joystick or controller your using.
Once the keys are working again, plug in your joystick and it should work and still be able to use the shortcut keys on the keyboard, it cause the joystick takes device 0, keyboard need to be that number. Are you using a USB Hub..? If PCUAE is working OK with its usb stick plugged into the hub then it should be fine, PCUAE don't like all usb hubs, it works with the one I use fine, its a Atolla USB Hub, I recommend using it.. www.amazon.co.uk/Atolla-USB-3-0-Hub-Port-Black/dp/B07DWZCSPM/You can use ones as well that look similar that are about £4 to £5.

Hi, I have now tried it out as you described, but with the same result. I also swapped the ports to see if something changed. Unfortunately without success. Usb hub, as you described, was disconnected from my mini and only the keyboard and the USB stick were connected. Sometimes strange things happen ... I have to put up with the fact that I always have to boot the fake update again from the menu and have to go to the games list one after the other from the menu. But I still thank you for your help

So PCUAE boots ok but the keys don't work still..? very weird, I wonder if it could be the keyboard your using, I am just guessing now... I just don't know why. I just tested it on my THEC64 Mini and plugged the keyboard in last and the shortcut keys still work(well it would, it scans for the event keys.. ), I am using a old Apple keyboard from a Power Mac G4 and it works ok, you have to hold down CTRL then press the key you want, say H to R Screen and hold them down until you see the carousel start to change, so press down `CTRL` key first then press and hold down say key `2`(for H to R Screen) and hold both keys down for about 3 to 4 seconds, once the carousel changes let go of the keys.

This is a bit of a cabbage-head questions, so apologies in advance...
Does PCU run its own version of VICE from the USB-drive (since there are multiple directories containing what looks like a full VICE distro), completely bypassing the software on THEC64?
If so, I have some interesting questions about possibilities... :-)
Cheers,
Mike.

Hello everyone.
Quick question. I looked through the thread, but didn't see an answer to this question. Of course I may have missed it and if so, I apologize.
Is there a way to make an additional gamelist for PCU when used on the maxi? For example, so far there seems to be 0_fav, 0_to_G, H_to_R, S_to_Z, and VIC20. Is it possible to add another list for a user to add additional games and software to the system? For example a Disc Master I's_Collection, or even a generic name such as user_collection, etc... and then being able to access that gamelist via CNTRL-6 or something?
I have a large collection of newer games released in the 2000s and want to include those as well as some old games that don't appear to be in the current lists. It would be great if I could create a custom gamelist/carousel just for the games I personally add to the system.
Thanks, John

Another quick one. There isn't a tool to load games onto the favourites carousel, will there be instructions on how to do this on a later build? Thanks. Absolutely awesome work There is no tool for you make them with(wish there was) but I will make a video at some point showing how to add a game from the other folders into 0_fav folder, I did contact raxrip(the Creator of THEC64 Maxi Game Tool, he is part of a C64 hacking group called Megastyle and his other handle is Rottery, we all use handles, there called nicknames now, like I do Spannernick, it from the CB radio days in the 80s and what you was called at school, I was called Spanner at school cause I acted like a bit of a tool(idiot).. My Dad's handle was Slowcoach.. ) about organizing them this way in the THEC64 Maxi Game Tool but he was not interest in the Game Tool any more or THEC64 for that matter, probably hacking C64 games or making them now so he is too busy, this is one of the reasons why I said support for THEC64 is dyeing, once they have done stuff on THEC64 in the end they loss interest in the THEC64, its got a very short life span, that cause its a Retro Machine so it almost been around one way or other for almost 40 years. I do wish THEC64 Maxi Game tool was open source( hint.. raxip/rottery.. PLEASE put it on GitHub and preserve it) then we could add other stuff we wanted to it to make it better, maybe like someone out there might be able to add the code to get the tool to change jpegs into png file inside the tool, just because you don't know how don't mean someone else don't know how add it. I am willing to learn, how to if anyone is listening.. If you look at THEC64 Maxi Game tool it a replica of the Carousel so you can use it just like a frontend to load C64 games from VICE on your Windows PC, you can even have it at full screen. Oh I made the keyboard buttons that are used in THEC64 Maxi Game Tool.. Is anyone here thats good at NET by Microsoft on Windows.. ? We could make a THEC64 PCU Game Manager using that and it could have a database built into it so when you add a game it has all the info for it in its database or it learns each time you add a game and remembers its info(One of the ideas I have for a new application, but don't know how to use or code in NET) so it would look abit like the True Blue Mini C64 Game Manager but you can add games to it. Like this... I have actually started to build an application like this to make it a bit easier to add games to carousels. I'm a java developer since 20+ years, so I'm coding it in Java. It has a lightweight database (sqlite) holding the games information. Some of the features I'm working on: - Import games by choosing an existing carousel folder - Export games to a carousel folder where all files ends up in the right format, which then can be used in PCU. Thinking about adding options for exporting them organized as e.g A-G folder in PCU (working with the Megastyle game tool), or the other format used in the favorites folder in PCU. - Build different views to filter the game list above (e.g. "All games that starts with A-G", "All games using joystick port 1", or "All Vic20 games"). - Drag n drop for screenshots/cover when adding a new game (can be in png, jpeg or gif format) and automatic cropping to 320x200 (the preferred resolution for screenshots in the carousel) This is a WIP, it will take some time before I can share it, but I'm doing good progress. It's a fun programming task :-)
