Hi guys, Just wondering if there is a setting that will allow you to remove the border, to make the foreground area fill the screen (TheC64 1.6.1 unmodified). Yes, I know the border has its purpose, but please bear with me. There is an option in VICE 2.4 as seen below. So, I'm wondering if TheC64 exposes this somewhere in a menu that I have overlooked. Or even better a flag option on a 'prg' file. Many thanks for your time,

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your question but the screen modes setting in the carousel allows you to fill the entire screen or do things like turn scan lines on and off, etc.

Really? I’m struggling to find that setting. I can find the menu with the heading of “Display” where it shows Pixel Perfect, European 4:3, etc… But none of them remove the border.
The C64’s own border I am meaning, not the displays letterboxing (Incase there’s some confusion here). Hence the screenshot above.

No you can not remove the border, and I do not think you can do that on a original C64, well I never have, some games use the board too but you can do that in VICE Mode, like you have done in PCUAE.

I always use the original aspect ratio but I could have sworn in the past when playing with the other screen types it would do that. Either I'm mistaken or maybe it has something to do with how my monitor or the HDMI to VGA converter handles the output if I'm right about that. Maybe I just never noticed full screen mode still has a border though.
If your monitor has the ability try adjusting the picture to remove the borders manually.
Far as using the border on original hardware aren't there games that do that using vector interrupts? Pretty sure at least sprites are able to appear in the border area and games would use it to cleverly place the score counter in the border area?

Thanks guys. Yeah, I was aware that you can't remove the border (as such on the original C64, hide it via raster tricks yes).
The goal here was to effectively set TheC64 to get rid of the border (like you can in VICE) in an effort to get the foreground area to fill the monitor.
No probs! I'll keep powering on. Many thanks!

Legendary! Good thing I was browsing the forum tonight. Going to try this in the morning. Doing this via flag is exactly what I was looking for. Will let you know how it goes.

Gee, I don’t know. The explanation in the manual doesn’t fill me with confidence. It say the FH flag just fills the screen to full height “including” the borders. Will test tomorrow.

Unfortunately I was never able to achieve a full screen without the border, like you can do in Vice 2.4 itself.
