The C64 maxi is one of those dream products, I hope it is selling well somewhere. I was lucky to get mine from Amazon as an obvious return due to a bad joystick and I am glad to have gotten my hands on one. We still aren't seeing these in stock in the U.S. because I want to grab a few while they are in production. I would sure like to see follow on products like some Amigas! While we wait to see what the future holds is there any chance of a software update for The C64? Are there plans for future releases or is the plan to leave it as is and move onto something else? No complaints about the current version, I just want to see what else they can come up with.

There's been numerous firmware updates to the mini and maxi. The latest with one of it's most significant features being able to swap the joystick ports for a game that uses one or the other by just pressing two buttons on the joystick. If you aren't using the latest version of project carousel I'd at least update the firmware.

I am on the latest, 1.5.2 which was 6 months ago, prompting me to wonder when the next one might drop.

Has it been 5 months? Wow time flies. But they've done a good job of releasing many updates, probably more so than many android phones do. Because the guys behind the mini and maxi are not just business owners but rather have a passion for Commodore computers, it wouldn't surprise me if the release more updates. But, each update has addressed the biggest wants from the community. I haven't followed it closely. Are there still a few needed features that people really need to emulate the machine? Many updates have addressed much needed things like the joystick swapping or running multi disk games. Curious if there's still a few glaring things missing? I've mostly kept my use superficial, just playing a few games here and there. Main thing I wanted was the joystick swapping on the fly without the need to edit file names with tags.

I hope they are hammering away at network access for BBSing, and most of all actually having them in stock with any firmware!

I think these guys who did Project Carousel have given you the ability to use devices like wifi modems and a mouse for things like Geos once you launch the full version of vice.
