Hello all I’m planning to connect my C64 mini to an HDMI PC monitor (not TV). Probably a stupid question: do I have to expect any strange video ‘behaviour’ as the monitor resolution will be likely higher than my former PAL TV? Still no issue to have full screen as with normal TVs? thanks a lot

Does your monitor also support sound? Very good point and the answer is: much likely not. In that case how can I get sound from the C64 mini?...

This will be a valid option in case I will really move to a PC monitor. I'm still trying to get a spare TV though. Just like almost 40 years ago, it's getting difficult to have the home TV available for playing the C64. At those times, I was the teen and the parents usually mastered the TV remote control. Now, I am one of the two parents, but still both my wife and my daughter use to master the TV remote control (thanks Netflix and all the other streaming services...). There must be something in my Karma not letting me mastering any TV remote control :-)

Get a cheap 8 to 15 year old flat screen monitor. They're usually only $10 or $20 at goodwill stores. It'll probably have VGA input but that's easy just get a cheap $5 HDMI to VGA adapter with an audio output plug. If the monitor doesn't have speakers plug the audio into a cheap pair of PC speakers. Just make sure the VGA adapter you buy doesn't have lag. Read reviews. There's a ton of flat screen hd monitors out there that are 8 to 15 years old that have fantastic displays with very high resolution but they're only ten or 20 dollars because people only want HDMI these days and the latest and greatest faster refresh rates or higher resolution. None of that matters for the resolution of older retro systems. They'll look fantastic on a VGA flat screen monitor. I run my RetroPie setup on a monitor using a HDMI to VGA adapter and have the audio plug off the adapter plugged into PC speakers. Works great. Or you could get a HDMI to s video or component adapter and plug your machine into a CRT monitor to be real old school about it. 😎

Thank you for all of your support. In the end, I managed to find a spare 22 inches LCD TV. With the "sharpness" menu I can relatively well adjust the feel of the image to my likes, with no additional devices cables and so on. Happy gaming!
