The game itself works, it's just that the speed of the music is fast. I've done a couple of different settings. I have the C64 Maxi, so I set the machine to C64 NTSC, sound runs fast. So I set it to C64 PAL, sound still runs fast, no change from when it was set to NTSC. I set the C64 Maxi to PAL and added _TP flag to the filename. The sound still runs fast.
Someone at some point programmed a file called Amazinghorse.prg. It's basically the song from The Amazing Horse on the C64. If you run the program on an emulator on the computer, it runs fine. If you run it on The C64 Maxi, the sound runs faster than it did on the emulator on the computer. With the amazinghorse.prg file I also set the Maxi to NTSC and PAL, and both times the sound ran fast.
Is there any way to slow the sound down? Or is there a flag or a setting that I'm missing? Thank you.

If your video output is set to 60Hz, PAL stuff will be played speeded up. You need to set the video output to 50Hz in the settings. I was going to point you to the manual, but Retro Games seems to have "lost" that file, it is not available on their website anymore. Check the settings, there is a way to switch THEC64 into PAL 50.

Thanks. I was able to find the manual at a different website yesterday, and I went over that part, but it only talked about 60hz and 50hz. It didn't specifically mention being able to switch to 50hz or 60hz, just that you're able to switch between C64 PAL and C64 NTSC. The other one you can change to is, VIC 20 PAL and VIC 20 NTSC. If you go to System Information, it shows the current firmware, and for me in that same screen it says, Video Output 60HZ, and I don't see an option to be able to change that to 50HZ.
If I change the computer model to PAL or NTSC C64, System information still shows Video Output as 60HZ.

Reset to factory settings. Then remove the hdmi cable, switch on and insert the hdmi cable. Now you should be able to select Europe (PAL, 50Hz) or US (NTSC, 60Hz).

Do I lose the firmware upgrade if I reset to factory settings? Have you done a factory reset before on it, or know anyone who has with no problems afterwards?

Factory reset will not change the firmware, it does not reset it ack to factory shipped firmware version.
It clears the settings and it will remove any saved game progress you have made.
Once PCUAE 1.5.1 is released in the next few weeks you will have the ability to set the Frequency from the PCUAE option menu without having to do the reset and lose any saved games.
