I've been enjoying checking out some old(er) school Vic20 games on the 64 Maxi because I always love seeing old hardware being pushed to it's limits. Modern movie like consoles bore me to no end because there's no challenge in pushing the hardware. Besides, if I want to watch a movie I'll watch a movie. Lol
So thought it'd be interesting to hear what games you've been impressed by on the vic20. If you've seen the 8 bit guy videos on the Vic it's graphics are pretty much better than anything out there at it's release. Most people don't realize that because it was limited by it's ram. Some of the pictures done on it are actually pretty amazing. It's sound chip was also better than pretty much anything on the market at that time too.
One of the games done in recent years for it was pitfall, which uses raster interrupts for some of the graphics. Another recent dungeons and dragons style game is said to be the largest game ever created for it, featuring multiple disks.
So if you have a favorite or think a game is impressive for one reason or another I'd like to hear about it.

Star Defence / Star Defender on the 16K Vic20 - the best version of Stargate / Defender I have played. Loads to a black screen Press F1 to start. There are 2 speeds of the game, fast and manic selectable on title screen with F5 (plays one of 2 tones - a sort of flutter or a pulse do do do) - you have to try blasting some lasers and moving up and down on normal speed then fast. @ no. players 1 to 4 in turn F1 start F5 Speed F7 Pause Joystick or these to move and shoot O up Z Down S Reverse Del Accelerate F1 Shoot Additional keys Space - Hyperspace F3 Map Right Shift - Inviso Return - Smart Bomb www.mobygames.com/game/vic-20/star-defence/cover-art

Myriad
A great shooter with 10 levels of aliens that change when the last one or 2 are on screen.
Interesting effect of multiple types of Alien and sounds on a one time.

LaserZone - awesome sounds by Jeff Minter - pushes the Vic into greatness Definitely some of the Llamasoft games for sound. Megagalactic Llamas also has some solid Vic 20 sounds.
