What you now see and what you get via the controller is timed up nicely now, I can finally make the first pixel perfect long jump on stage 2 of Rick Dangerous as it should be taken! No more feeling the stick will break, or that feeling your pressing the D-pad out the other side of the controller casing trying to make the jump which more times than not used to fall short. There might be a very slight delay in the sound now because of this tweak but really I'd rather have this than an out of sync joystick! Emulation in general tends to have a slight sound delay from what you see any way and it's something you soon get used to. Shame the machine wasn't shipped like this from the off but things are looking up now.

I wonder just how many more iterations there will be, before the one that matters to me is here. But I can always use some lag-free gameplay, too.

It seems to be another alibi update. Programming seems to be a complicated thing! I wonder if there will be a custom firmware of a hacker before the first official useful update, which is dedicated to the announced topics. I don't care. I just hope that soon there will be software that will make the device what it claims to be.

It seems to be another alibi update. (...) Indeed. As I have two Minis to compare both 1.0.7 and 1.0.8 updates directly, for me there is ABSOLUTELY no differece regarding Input Lag. ZERO! Have to say I did never suffered from it... But yes, the one function everybody is waiting for (File Browser) is still nothing to be heard of. Those mysterious „improvements“ do not impress me too much. Feels like the only „improvement“ is a higher version number. And as they needed about a month for THIS I am sure we have to wait at least the same time until we see another update...

Don't be quite this quick to judge. I'm not doubtful that they have done something to enhance the emulation. Pretty sure if you actually measured the delay of audio and video, like David Murray did, you're find a noticeable improvement.
It seems to have been a comparatively easy change. Possibly even just a tweak in ~/.vicerc, or a dirty little hack for the Allwinner chipset. I could of course be wrong, but my assumption is that they're working on this, and that we'll see the file browser when it's tested a lot. A rush job could ruin the thing.

It does make a difference! On winter games on the biathlon going uphill quickly was virtually impossible as it was completely out of sync. The same with other games. I really would like the usb update but I suppose it's a step in the right direction.

I really would like the usb update but I suppose it's a step in the right direction. Yep. I can do the shooting on the Biathlon now. There is still the issue of the sound being well out of sync when two joysticks are plugged it. It makes M.U.L.E. unplayable as a two player game.

I had a Keyboard delay by playing David Midnight's Magic under 1.0.7 I didn't install 1.0.8 yet and wait for the master update I dream of. Just my opinion: This are not just fine-tuning problems, these are fundamental weaknesses that should have been clarified before the market launch. But I relax and use vice with raspberry and combian distro... for example. ... and hope that I will get for what I have payed: A retro machine with fun factor.

Just messing at the moment but give the scanline mode a try, there might be a slight swing towards the sound being a bit tighter. I did notice there was a bit of slow down just as you start playing Nebulus on the first tower which I don't ever recall seeing before? Might be the 2 controllers or might be just me, I'll check again with just 1 controller and listen out for the sound timing.

Your right killamarshian, the sound delay improves if only one joystick is used!
It may also be a power related issue... With 2 controllers, keyboard & SD card plugged in I played Who Dares Wins II for a bit. I then removed everything leaving just the one controller plugged in and the guy you control was walking much fast in the game than before! So it may well be that the more you have plugged in to the mini the slightly slower the emulation becomes?

Yeah baby!!! I'm back up to full speed with the C64mini and the sound sync is good with everything plugged in again, as in 2 controllers, 1 keyboard & SD card! I bought a Belkin 4-port USB 2.0 HUB yesterday and thought what if I power the mini off the hub and BINGO it's all back to full speed with everything running! Argos: www.argos.co.uk/product/3387225So using the C64mini to power everything is a bit too much and why the slight slow down and sound delay. The Belkin hub comes with a 5amp PSU. Using the hub to power the C64mini leaves it to power just the 1 controller. The keyboard, spare controller and SD card are powered by the hub instead and speed/sound is back to normal. Result!

How can the update fix the joystick from it going left and up or right and up..? I don't use it no more.
I am going to wait until they release a update to do with USB and a file browser,I use my Rpi3 in my too now so can load any game I like now with a interface that looks like TheC64 Mini on it,its still needs work.
One question, can they release a update that cuts off the serial port. Can it be cut off or the driver removed or is the serial part of the cpu.??

The C64... 64 Games .... £64,99 ..Do you see the pattern
The 64 games originally provided was intentional, yes. The price has nothing to do with TheC64. The recommended retail price from RGL is £69.99. It is just Amazon and Game who have chosen to sell at £64.99.

The "new games if you upgrade" could be a great sweetener to encourage people to uograde their firmware (not that most of us need any encouragement, of course :-D)

I'm staying away from this update for now.
I have zero issues with sync on my LG screen, the uphill in Biathlon is fine and skeet shooting is fine too, all games in sync. You watch, I'll apply this update and it will be ballsed up.
