Hi Everyone,
I'm not sure how I managed this one, but when I updated the firmware to 1.5.2 I used one of the side ports. For some reason, I didn't see the front of the 64 had a USB port, so I figured the side one would work just as well.
It seemed to update the firmware ok, but now games that I'm playing from USB seem to have audio/gameplay speed issues (playing way too fast). I've tried messing around with .cjm files, flags...etc, and changing the default settings on the carousel side but nothing seems to fix the issue. I swear that even some of the carousel games are playing audio too fast now as well.
Does anything think this issue is tied to having updated the firmware using a side USB port, or have recommendations on what I should do?

I think they say to use the rear usb port for firmware updates and maybe for extra games, etc, so short of your machine somehow being stuck in ntsc mode I'm guessing there's an issue. I think there's an option on the menu to restore factory defaults including firmware? If so I'd do that and then reformat the usb, install a new download of the latest firmware on it in case the download was bad, and update the firmware again.
Btw too maybe it's stuck in some kind of warp speed mode that vice allows for speeding up game loading and such?

Thanks for the recommendation. I did a factory restore a couple of times for some testing. I chose NTSC the first time when prompted, and the same issue came up. When I did the factory restore the second time, I chose PAL for giggles (even though I'm in North America). That seems to have helped, and the games are running pretty close to 'normal' (or at least what I remember them sounding like years ago). Maybe just a tad slow, but otherwise ok.
The 'mode' it's put in after a factory reset doesn't seem to make a difference (c64 PAL, c64 NTSC...etc).
I did verify the SHA 256 was correct after download, so I'm thinking everything was ok when it was flashed.

is your machine on 60hz..?, have a look at the update page to see if it is, if its in 60hz the games will run faster if your playing PAL games cause PAL Games run at 50hz.
