I'm looking to use original atari joysticks and paddles with the maxi as well as other new atari style controllers such as the Hyperkin Ranger, which is a unique combo joystick and paddle that gets great reviews. In my limited research so far I'm learning towards the ICode dongle. He sells several but I'm leaning towards the non bluetooth that has buttons on the box for navigation through the maxi or even Retropie menus which comes in handy if your using a controller with only a button or two. My other criteria for a dongle is it being plug and play compatible with the maxi without needing to mess with any config files, which I think his latest version of firmware is? I think prior firmware required editing a config file on the mini or maxi but not the latest version if I read right. If Anybody has any other dongle suggestions to check out that are maxi as well as retropie compatible please post them.

I have these, both the single and dual: www.onyxsoft.se/joydivision.htmlThey work with THEVIC20 and THEC64 MINI and probably THEC64 1.5.2, if you install the firmware for THEC64 in the dongle (same firmware for all three). They work in both carousel and in game, but they only support the original fire button AFAIK, and have no extra buttons. Paddles are not supported. Video how to flash the device on Windows using HIDBootFlash Video how to flash the device on Linux (shall work on OSX as well)
