I just received my C64 today and was having a great time with it. Then I decided to update the firmware to 1_5_2. It upgraded fine and rebooted, but now Basic is missing from the carousel. Is this a new feature? I have to open settings and select "Switch to Classic mode" to open basic. Is there a different way to open Basic?

RGL removed it from the firmware when they added the 'Classic mode'. You can add it back if you put BASIC.tsg (1.81 KB) in the Carousel games folder (or better in PCU), in covers and in screens. It will still miss one screen (I can't add more then 3 attachments) but it should work.

Thank you! As long as it's operating as intended, I'm happy. I absolutely love THEC64 and everything about it so far. I just loaded turbo macro pro and I'm starting to learn it. My first computer was a ZX81, because we couldn't afford a C64 in '82, so I'm originally a Z80 assembly programmer (that did the compiling to machine code by hand) and then moved to x86 macro assembler. Looking forward to getting a deeper understanding of the C64 6502 hardware (even if it's emulated). I'll look at PCU, but hacks and mods make me nervous until I understand the hardware better.

They removed it cause it just opening basic in the Carousel like the File Loader so no support for games that have more then one disk, Disk 1, Disk 2, Disk 3 and so on, Classic Mode and Media Access can load games with more than one disk now. Classic Mode is in the Device Settings menu, the spanner... icon..

Ah, that makes sense. I noticed when I loaded a game from the carousel, media access is missing. That's actually super cool, I've been switching disks and cartridges on the fly from classic mode. Now I realize having the classic mode option in Device settings, while not intuitive, is faster than scrolling though the carousel. Just one more thing to love about this machine and the care the developers put into creating it. I bought a mini, just to have another around to play with. I might even buy another Maxi to hack on.
