As many people, I'd really like to use my old Commodore 64 joystick with THEC64.
However, I'm confused with the large number of USB to DE-9 (often improperly called DB-9) adapters. Many of them are DIY projects, others are commercial products but defunct, and the rest are from small companies; for instance, the USBJoy2.0 and the BlissBox.
Considering that I'm based in Europe, and I want to buy a ready-to-use adapter that works well without too much hassle, which product would you recommend?
Thanks in advance from a C64 aficionado!

Welcome to the biggest disappointment in this whole effort to resurrect our favorite childhood gaming platform. To finally come out with a remake, with a proper keyboard & all...only to include a single joystick that just doesn't come anywhere close to replicating the gameplay that made the C64 great, and provide no reasonable path for using original joysticks, 2 player head2head, or a hardware partner to remake something close... I waited & waited, bought & sold a "Mini", overpaid for a "Maxi", and probably have an hour of playing-time on it in 3 years, with 5x that spent trying to fiddle with solutions that never worked. Had I spent all of this money replacing the original hardware, I'd have scratched the itch & been much happier.

Not sure if this may be relevant for you, but having the same issue I decided to avoid "replica" controller and go for modern one that, of course, do not fit the Commodore 64 connectors and logic. So I created an adapter for gaming controllers and mouse that works with C64 (PAL edition because I have only PAL C64) and it is described here: github.com/emanuelelaface/USBtoC64Hope this is helpful for you.

If you bought a Atari 2600 Plus you can put in a mode where it sees its joysticks DB9 ports so you can use them on the PC or on THE400 Mini and even THEC64, I tried on my THE400 Mini and it works like its a USB2 DB9 Adapter, you have to plug its USB-C into the one of the consoles USB ports then power that console with 5v 3a so it powers the Atari2600 Plus OK, make sure the Color Switch is on B/W, then Hold Down the RESET switch and then switch the POWER on and keep holding RESET down for 2 to 3 seconds, then your in Update Dumper Mode that updates the Cartridge Dumper but it can sees the DB9 ports like its a USB joystick as well in the mode, now plug in a DB9 joystick in port one on the Atari 2600 Plus and you be able to use it on THEC64 carousel when you switch it on... Works the same way as the Capcom Home Arcade and you able to switch it into Joystick PC Mode and use its joysticks on the PC with MAME. I posted about it on here: forums.atariage.com/topic/362689-atari2600-joystick-can-be-used-in-the-pc(TIP: If you do not like viglinks then copy and past the URL above in a browser window then it will bypass it... )
