Next Update will be released on 3rd Feb 2021.. Good news – the new firmware (version 1.5.1) is almost ready to go! Because it covers more models of THEC64/THEVIC20 range (as in full sized ones, mini version, THEVIC20, USA models, global models etc.) than ever before, we are being ultra-careful in terms of testing before releasing it, but we are confident that we will be releasing it to you in the first half of next week (week beginning the 1st February 2021) So hold that thought, it’s close to being released to you all, have a great weekend in the meantime! #THEC64 #THEVIC20 #firmware #update #retrogaming #news Looks like they be adding Joystick Swap to the next update, if it was not in PCU first adding it would not be added.. a lot of stuff from PCUAE is being added now, thanks to Gurce.. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Any updates from TheC64 from Facebook will be posted here. You can post updates from there FB page here only please. Thanks.. You can ask about updates that are on the Facebook page...

Nothing worth getting out of bed for...
THEC64 Update 1st June 2018
Another busy week for the backroom boys of THEC64 team!
So what have we been up to in the office this week? Well….
More ERSB rating paperwork and videos, more quick guide manuals in the appropriate formats. Then as well as USA firmware tweaks, we have also been working on other global future firmware updates, which will come in due course, these include many of the things users have been asking for, but also other improvements we are sure you will like. Obviously once we are fully up to speed with the USA firmware/release, these more global updates will start to roll out as well ASAP we can.
As an aside, we also have some of our team playing with the 3D printer to try some prototype external hardware mods we hope to implement down the line. So lots going on, and as soon as practical we will do official announcements on all of the above.

Today's update from the Facebook group at www.facebook.com/THEC64computer/THEC64 Update 15th June 2018 Another busy week for us here, with some interesting teasers below for pending future updates and news heading your way over the coming weeks, so let’s begin shall we! We have signed a new game which we KNOW you are going to love! How is that good for us you might ask? Well… it’s good for all backers and current THEC64 owners, as we are going to include it in a future (not too distant) firmware update for you all! So as well as the various other pending firmware updates, (which will include many of the features you are asking for) you are also going to get a very special game built into one of those firmware updates as well! Keep watching with baited breath! We are also almost at the end of the preparation for an announcement on the USA, and hope to be able to finally fill you all in on that really soon, your patience has been appreciated. In other related news, (no spoilers just yet), but let’s just say everyone’s favourite annual heading for fans will also include a great article written by one of THEC64 team, for those of you who love behind the scenes stuff. Finally, as well as the ongoing firmware updates being written we are also doing work on the full sized THEC64. Just to be clear it IS happening, IS coming your way, and WILL be in progress as soon as possible after the full global roll out of THEC64 mini, which you have (as in Indiegogo backers and pre-order supporters have from us) as a free thank you from us, as well anyway of course! So there you go, as ever a quick round up of this week’s progress, and we will see you all again next week for more. So for now we will leave you all to speculate what this new free game heading all of your way is going to be!

Damn... They should just bring out the Firmware and add the Game later...
Wasn't Sams's Journey once announced long ago to be free along with the mini?

you are also going to get a very special game built into one of those firmware updates as well! Keep watching with baited breath! Most of the games on the 64mini were nothing special to me personally..., I wouldn't like to guess what they believe 'very' special is. On the retro side of things try and imagine a very special version of Ik+. Now that would be impressive.

I would love for Sams Journey to be built into the next update, it's been a pain trying to get it working :-P Also, perhaps they should talk to 'ZeroPaige' about finally finishing that Mario conversion -

I'm all for the games they add to be the ones that are easy to pick up and play. So yeah. Sams Journey, or something like that. Either that, or a classic. They *could* talk to System 3 of course. System 3 exists... and they could use the attention, having a new Last Ninja game in the works, after all.
Though they completely FAIL with their botched kickstarter attempt that never happened. And communication to their fanbase. But still. They would benefit from having their games in the Mini.

I'm fed up hearing about USA,no disrespect meant there to America! This update was promised months ago and still isn't out. Playing multi disk games is virtually impossibe and extremely cumbersome with the current setup. I would assume that they have put very little time into this hence the delay. The main reason I bought one of these was to play different games and it's been way too long for this update to be released.

They DID care for their customers as long as they needed them to get their stuff sold. Now they just sell off the last stock and then turn their backs on the whole thing. They are in no way interested in maintaining the product. Official Forums closed after deleting critical posts, no news, no nothing. They did not get the real TheC64 ready but had some work done and parts already bought... so they slapped together the mini to avoid a complete loss and now sell it off as it is. Mark my words: We will not hear from them again, at least nothing else as them going out of business...

It looks like there is still some activity planned--- will be released in Walmart in October. I was able to add it to the cart/order. I actually already have a C64 mini from original crowdsourcing support, so did not pre-order, but here's a screen print:

The 1.1.4 update REALLY adds Competition Pro Support. They even mapped the menu button to the left (!) triangle which is really really really good. You could theoretically throw away the included Joystick...
BUT...
there is no way in Basic or USB games to use the Space Bar (unless you write a configuration file). Somehow they missed that left triangle is the ONLY way to use "Space" in virtual Keyboard as you can not select it otherwise. This is a real shame for games that require you to press Space to leave a title screen. You can't do it.
Otherwise the Competition Pro support is really really good. No idea why they missed the Space Bar. Ideally there is another way in the virtual Keyboard (an Icon for Space?) so that you can use it. (Because Backspace/Delete works!)
