Of course I could, but mapping Space to Button 2 on the Joystick as a Standard would be helpful. Apparently this is done for some of the included games (they all come with mapping files like the file loader I guess), and I can Help myself by creating a mapping file for every .d64 on my USB stick (I should write a small Batch file for that), but in the end if they could just map the Spacebar as a STANDARD it would save a lot of work.
As I am not on Facebook I can not make the Suggestion there. Anybody who follows the official thread on Facebook: Please Copy and paste my request there. Thank you.

I would like them to allow you to map a dedicated button to bring up the Virtual Keyboard instead of having to go 'Menu, Virtual Keyboard, Type, Menu' constantly. If I could map say Button 3 (next to the menu button) as a dedicated 'Open Virtual Keyboard' button and then close it with the regular button that would be fantastic. You can already map pretty much any other key to it. Surely there could be a 'VKB' meta-key they could allow you to assign?

New site is Sh1te, you need to click the "find out more" before you get to see what the site has to offer. C64 case on the main index page is that bright that it looks more like the colour of a Vic 20 than a C64... retrogames.biz/

You can't see the news properly on there site too.. I bet they using .biz not .com cos its cheaper and the white background on the C64 Mini image would look better if it was black. I think we need a thread about the site..

Fantastic! Downloaded and installed. The thought just occurred to me, with this latest update that adds Galencia to the menu, could this be a precursor to what the Retro Games team would like to do with Commodore games publishers in general? The idea being that, along with selling games on D64, floppy disk, tapes and cartridges, the publishers also provide .bin files that you would "upgrade" to your C64Mini to include the new game in the menu. A possibility?

A possibility? Interesting idea. It could be. But, there is one limitation: space at Mini is not unlimited. It could lead to problems (people already try and achieve to - freeze Mini, by overloading it with games). It should require, at least, some kind of simple checker of empty space, along with installation routine. Probably RGL will made some kind of "Mini manager", to simplify process of managing games at Mini (adding and/or just removing, aka backup). This could be de facto new standard for distributing C64 games: screenshots, cover and (multi-language) description/instructions, along with "instant play" (made by using compressed vice snapshots). Carousel is basically simple idea, but it looks like that it was crucially missing since C64 exist. Missing part of the puzzle, kind of.

Yes, the limited storage space for the Mini needs to be considered. However, I was thinking along the same lines as you; all the Retro Game team would need to do is develop some sort of manager for the "Carousel". It might not be the case, but I thought it was an interesting idea, which kind of coincides with their latest request for developers to "work with them"... and then to see this special release of Galencia. It certainly will be interesting to see where Retro Games goes with this.

A very nice little shooter and most welcome. Only thing that lets it down to my ears is that all the sound including music voices sound as if it's been taken straight out of Turrican. Still... a neat game and cool for a quick blast. It suites the mini perfectly! Cheers and happy shooting-mass!

THEC64 21 hours ago Good news – the new firmware (version 1.5.1) is almost ready to go!
Because it covers more models of THEC64/THEVIC20 range (as in full sized ones, mini version, THEVIC20, USA models, global models etc.) than ever before, we are being ultra-careful in terms of testing before releasing it, but we are confident that we will be releasing it to you in the first half of next week (week beginning the 1st February 2021)
So hold that thought, it’s close to being released to you all, have a great weekend in the meantime!
