I'll try and elaborate a bit. Have popped a usb stick in the back of the C64 Maxi (original firmware) and can see a drive called "THEC64-drive8"
I can save to the drive using SAVE"HELLO",8,1 and load using LOAD"HELLO",8,1 but how do I call up a directory of what is on the disk?? I'm trying to do some programming and save my work but what happens if I forget the filename?
I can see my game folders and can expand them to see the titles but if I press the 'fire' button on "THEC64-drive8" it doesn't expand it to show saved titles. Confused!
Also, I believe you can update the firmware on THEC64. How do you do this and what's the best firmware to update to??
TIA

Load "$",8 for directory, then type LIST. Best firmware is newest

Also, I believe you can update the firmware on THEC64. How do you do this and what's the best firmware to update to?? See here for RGL's support, I advise to get the manual as it has some decet tips. Currently the latest firmware (1.4.2) seems to have disappeared but you can still get it from spannernick here.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I'd heard people referring to the manual. Where do I get that from as I bought the 64 new and it didn't have any manual in the box but since I've still got my old 64 in the loft and all the books that go with that I'm ok using it - apart from listing what's on the disk! Tell you what IS a shame. Would've been nice if there had been slots on the back where you could plug in an original datasette/cartridge game etc. I know you can still buy original 64's but it's tricky these days connecting them to a modern TV as they don't have RF, scart, S-Video and 'THE C64' is perfect for that as it's HDMI. Of course there are workarounds and I know some TV's still have Composite but would've been nice to have had all the features built in but I suppose they were restricted due to copyright or something like that?
