Hello.
The question is in the subject. I ask this because both firmware filenames for both systems are the same. And in my Maxi, when I'm in BASIC and press the menu I don't get the Media Access option but the Virtual Keyboard option. I think it's possible I may have updated to the mini firmware instead of the Maxi one. Can you please confirm if this is possible? Also, how can I correct this?
Thank you.

If you want official confirmation you should contact RGL via their website. But from what I've seen from the reverse-engineered updates the firmware update will apply the correct update for the specific machine type. What firmware version are you on?

Thanks for your reply. I updated the firmware to version 1.4.2.
I ran a checksum on both files and it appears they're the same.

Thanks for your reply. I updated the firmware to version 1.4.2. I ran a checksum on both files and it appears they're the same. The firmware updates contain the updates for each model, but what is the full build name in the system information menu? Mine is theC64-1.4.2-amora, where amora is RGL's 'codename' for the Maxi. I've checked, and in my case I do have the Media Access menu when I'm in Classic Mode. I assume that's what you mean with being in BASIC? Also are you using a standard Maxi or perhaps using PCU?

Hello. When I get home tonight I will check the full build name. Yes, when I said BASIC I meant classic mode and I don't have the Media Access option. Instead, the Virtual Keyboard option appears. And yes, I'm using the standard Maxi. Thanks again.

When you download the update for your model from RGLs website, its the same link from Google drive so its the same update, I used v1.4.2 update file on TheVic20 and on THEC64 Mini and it updated them fine, If you think about it there all the same machine with different model names.

Yes. I also saw they're the same link. It just occurred to me that I don't see the Media Access option when running BASIC or Classic Mode from the Carousel. Perhaps it has to boot in Classic mode for the Media Access option to appear. Can someone confirm? Tonight is when I will be able to check. Thanks!

If I 'Switch to Classic mode' from the Carousel I have the Media Access menu. I don't have a separate BASIC entry in the Carousel. If I create a BASIC entry in the Carousel and start that then there's no Media Access menu. Did you add any games to the Carousel that might have included BASIC, or otherwise mod your Maxi?

Thanks for your reply.
I have not added anything to the Carousel or modded the Maxi. The BASIC entry in the Carousel was there, to my knowledge. This is a brand new Maxi I got yesterday. Tonight I will test booting to Classic Mode and testing it out.

Thank you all. I just confirmed I have media access if I switch to Classic Mode. I don't get media access if I access Classic Mode from the Carousel. The build name for the firmware says "snowbird".

Hmmm. I haven't seen a snowbird version before I think, other than in the firmware update file. Any chance of you providing a backup of the internal storage (nanda and nandb) via this non-intrusive method? Also, out of interest, where did you buy this Maxi and which country are you in?

I bought the Maxi from Amazon in the USA. I am now located in the Dominican Republic. I will check the instructions on providing you the backup you need and post them here soon.

Snowbird is the name of the US version of THEC64 Maxi... Amora is the EU version, like THEC64 Mini PAL EU version is Argent and NTSC US version is Shield. You have not seen one cause stock is low in the US at the moment so first come, first serve... so the US version of THEVIC20 will have a different model name, its so if you send the machine back to RGL, they know what part of the world it comes from. I am wondering if RGL is naming them after gods or war like Ares is the Greek god of courage and war, Amora The Enchantress is one of Thor's most notable antagonists and lovers..
