I have yet to get a Vic 20 CRT file to work. I have downloaded several. The one I am most interested in is the Super Expander. I would also like to get a Vicmon to work. I have tried various memory configurations and file extensions but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could try snapshots from VICE(make a snapshot of a game in VICE) and then rename them to .prg and see if it will run in file loader, it works on THEC64 Maxi, it works cause it uses the image emulation driver in VICE in THEC64 Maxi/VIC 20 basically meaning it can only run image files and a snapshot is a image file, VICE in THEC64 Maxi/VIC 20 don't see it as a .prg file, it see it aa a vsf file and runs it like the Carousel does, you name it .prg so you can see it in the file loader.

I have yet to get a Vic 20 CRT file to work. I have downloaded several. The one I am most interested in is the Super Expander. I would also like to get a Vicmon to work. I have tried various memory configurations and file extensions but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've got Vicmon (VIC-1213) to work on THEVIC20 using these names depending on what expanded memory you want: Vicmon0K_MV.crt Vicmon3K_MVB0.crt Vicmon8K_MVB1.crt Vicmon16K_MVB1B2.crt Vicmon24K_MVB1B2B3.crt Vicmon32K_MVB1B2B3B5.crt Vicmon35K_MVB0B1B2B3B5.crt The original filename was Vicmon-6000.prg. I load them in Classic mode using the rocket, but I could also get them to load from the USB stick in Carousel mode. I start using SYS6*4096. I noticed a bug: when I first load it from Carousel mode it doesn't set the right memory size. Another thing: If I load it using +24K or more, then the memory in BASIC is the same as for +16K. I don't know if this is a bug or the normal behavior of VIC-20. There is more info about Vicmon on techtinkering.com/2013/04/16/beginning-assembly-programming-on-the-commodore-vic-20/ as mentioned on retrogames.biz/thec64-winter-games-development-competitionThe Vicmon manual can be found by googling.

Block 4 is used and reserved for character rom etc. No ram packs operate there.
Block 5 was initially for rom cartridges and ram packs were sold for Block 1 and 2 but modifiable to 1,2,3 & 5
People copied carts to a ram pack saved then loaded back to a Block 5 ram pack, write protected that ram and then it could run as if it were a rom.
What are you doing to configure +24k?
If you do B1B2B5 you might get 19967 bytes free (16+3.5)
If you do B1B2B3 you might see 27xxx bytes free
I will try it later on mine and confirm.

I use those filenames with Vicmon I wrote above to configure extra RAM > 16KB, but it is always as if I only had extra 16KB ─ even after reset. Maybe this is due to Vicmon.
