Has anyone had any luck with the BASIC 4 crt on TheVIC20? I've added it with b5 and Accurate Disk however haven't been able to get it to successfully load or save (dload / dsave); may be the disk system on TheVIC20 / TheC64 is not quite as compatible as it could be - or (more likely), I'm doing something wrong!

Have you loaded it into VICE 2.4 on your pc and saved it as a .vsf and then change it to a .prg file(need to show file extentions on your PC). and put the B0 tag i.e Basic v4_B0.PRG. I have not tried it yet as i don`t get my VIC20 till xmas, I did try it on vice and it worked takes a few seconds for v4 to come on top of the screen. PM me if you want the file pre done.  |

Thanks for the info! I gave that a go and ran into problems, again possibly doing something wrong; however I appear to have found something that works. Get a PRG cart image of BASIC 4 > copy that to a D64 with the _b5AD extension, and this seems to work - kind of. If you attach the D64 and auto-run it, it loads the PRG, then you have to do sys 64802 for a restart for it to start BASIC 4 - so it's a bit messy. Interestingly though, if cartridges can be saved to a D64, then this might be worth doing; I'm sure there are some advantages of having cartridges on a disk image - can't think of any right now, but I'm sure there are! I'll PM you later this evening - I would like to see how file works, if that's ok?

I think we're going to have problems getting this cartridge to work too, unfortunately! So far as I can gather this needs a switch in VICE 2.4 that isn't available on TheVIC20; so far I haven't been able to get it to work - it starts Tooth Invaders for some reason! But I can't get to the usual Mega Cart menu.
Let's hope future firmware updates make things like this more useable. It's all good fun of course, but it is a bit frustrating that these things take so much effort. Bet you can't wait until Christmas! It is a great computer and works fantastically for most things. It would be nice to have a default option to start the VIC with 3k, 8k, 18k, etc, and/or basic 4, vicmon, super expander, etc., right from the start.

They need to put in a flag in for Mega Cart say like _MC cause the Vic 20 emulator is seen it as a normal crt file or cartridge so that why Tooth invaders is loading up, the emulator needs to know its a Mega Cart your puting in it.
