This almost looks like the same picture they used... I looks like Amiga A500, I wonder if its A500 or A500 Plus, about time... , I am sooo happy, might have to save up for it.. to get it but don't know how much it will be..? but it really should be the same price as THEC64 Maxi/THE VIC 20. It will properly be using Linux and a Carousel again, can not wait to see more pictures and info on it.. I love Alien Breed on the Amiga and my first Amiga I got was in 1990 and the Screen Gems Pack, It cost about £600 then, (that would be 3 times the amount now in 90s money) I like Harlequin, Night Breed games, Pushover, Alien Breed, Shadow of the Beast games, Lotus Turbo Challenge games, Turrican games(I think Turrican 3 is the best and has a Manga feel, love its music) and many more games that I can't add cause this post would go on and on ... . Anyone remember Amos Coin Drop, I like the Fruit Machine games on the Amiga too. And it make brilliant Music, Love its MOD Music... Protracker and OctiMED.

I just hope the carousel uses whdload games to load them quickly. I would have like to have seen them release a version of the Amiga 1200. Loads of whdload games are compatible with it, it’s faster and also has the aga chip set.

That's great and all, but p*sses me off a little bit. Coming up to a year now for TheC64 "Maxi", but still nothing for the North American market. It's nice and all to see the C64, the VIC20 and now possibly the Amiga. But, it just feels like we, across the pond, are just getting flipped "the bird".

For many many years us Europeans simply could not get our hands on US-only products. I know some people who timed their US-vists to releases of new Iphones and Ipads for example (these days releases are worldwide, but that was not in the first generations). The C64 (Maxi) is a bit of a niche product and distribution is uneven because you just really don't know who will buy it where. Here in Germany it is next to impossible to order one online at regular price. But when I wander into our equivalent of Best Buy, called Media Markt, they usually have one or two machines on the shelf gathering dust because a person that just wanders in there is not the audience. This is the big kickstarter problem: You think you have a hit because X people support you online, but sometimes this is the ONLY market for the product you build, anybody else simply does not care. I have many friends from the old C64 days and most of them would not even have the room to setup a C64 Maxi, so their interest is Zero. And that is in the market that was the largest for Commodore! But I agree, a bit of info on distribution in the US would be nice. I would guess that it ends up online only and with a few specialist retailers (like Fry's? Do they still exist?).

Oh well, I've got the Mini, so that's fine. I'll probably be spending the money I would have on the Maxi on the Amico when it is released in April.

I already put this little baby on my wishlist.
Even though i only own an original A1200 instead of an A500, it makes me curious how close they will get to the real Amiga stuff. It's certain they sure can create magic and create a spot-on recreation of the legendary VIC20 and C64, thus they raised the bar pretty high for this one.
The original had a floppy drive, so let's hope they do some sort of recreation of that drive, which would accept sd-cards or something like that. Ofcourse sd-cards are nowhere near the size of a true floppy, but it's the thought that counts.
Also to stay true to the original, they should also include some sort of modern day recreation of the classic Amiga "Tank" mouse.

I think they should use the A600 case as it's smaller and uses less plastic, also there's a USB floppy drive on amazon and ebay for about £10 fitted internally, which could be used to load games and programs. Also amiga forever android only costs £1.79 on play store which also could be used.

The choice to go with the A500 is probably because it is the most iconic and well known Amiga model and much more revolutionary when it came out than the A1200 and A600. My first Amiga was an A2000, I still have my A4000 and got a cheap A500 from a colleague (which now has autographs of original developers of the Amiga on it).
I fully expect this Amiga recreation to be able to run ECS and AGA software as well. An updated tank mouse with USB and optical sensor would be awesome.
