Hi, Do you know how can I run games that need REU? (RAM Expansion Unit). I don't know if TheC64 is able to provide REU functionality to run games/demos.
Thanks and Best regards, Shark

You could try creating a snapshot in Vice 2.4 on Windows with REU enabled and see if that works.

WOW... where can you get the demos from..? and what can you use a REU for, it gives the c64 more memory so it can run games that need more memory or did they make any games for REU..? Test Drive uses it and some games use it to load the whole game into memory so it don't have to load from the disk all the time.

You can download a 16MB REU hack from here: drive.google.com/file/d/1qMheGIikmGbvuTtBVovEl4aQoJn4ajV6/view?usp=sharingI have made two versions as the hacks that are available will force the emulation to PAL emulation always. Therefore there is a specific PAL and NTSC version. Use "Classic" mode; from the "Media Menu" switch off the turbo load, and auto boot to the REU hack that you require (PAL or NTSC); after that, re-access the media menu and attach the disk image that you want. Do not auto-boot, but return to the BASIC prompt to load as you would do on a real Commodore C64, like: LOAD "*", 8, 1 and then RUN Regards, Shaun.

Thanks for your work on the 16mb reu. I have used a lot the 512 kb reu in the past but now, after the64 maxi has been updated, it no longer works. And unfortunately the 16 mb one doesn't work either, it's a real shame. Can you do something? Thank you very much

Thank you very much Use the older Carousel v1.3.2(it bootup by default) in PCUAEv1.20beta so download the beta version not the released version PCUAEv1.19, that version don't have the newer carousel in it.

Yes, in classic mode with the new update 1.4.2 the 512k reu (reported up in this same post) doesn't work anymore. Before it worked perfectly. Same thing for 16mb reu hack (this same post), after the update it doesn't work anymore. I am a noob, i took a thec64 for this reason. If you can explain why or how to do it for ... many will be grateful to you, even in other facebook groups where we talk about this. Thanks

Download PCUAEv1.20beta.zip and copy it to the root of your USB Stick then plug it in to your THEC64 Maxi and start it by going to the update page and running fake update(you only need to run it once, it will autoboot the next time you turn on the machine with the usb stick plugged into it) and you will see the PCUAE logo come up then your in carousel version 1.3.2, or if you have THEC64 Maxi in Classic mode it will boot the C64 up in that, now load the Ren like you have been doing and it should work. You can load Carousel v1.4.2 too from THEVIC20 by press and hold CTRL-F5 for 2 seconds, to go back to v1.3.2 press and hold CTRL-F3. It has games in the carousel too, you can switch folders or screens by pressing CTRL-1 to 5, CTRL-5 is for VIC20 games. Hope this helps.. I make a video soon on how to install it. info is here... thec64community.online/thread/501/project-carousel-usb

Thank you Spann for your help. I'm afraid of doing some damage to my super maxi. I will wait for a detailed video. I heard that an update should come out in December with the reu. In the meantime, thanks, you've been very kind. A greeting

PCUAE can not damage your THEC64 Maxi, it runs everything from the USB Stick, it don't run anything from the firmware it bypasses it, I use it all the time on my THEVIC20, Here is a video on how to install it on a USB Stick... Sorry about my breathing, I sound like Darth Vada I broke my nose when I was 6 or 7, a kid pushed me down the stairs so breath through my mouth ever since.

thanks spann for your valuable work. As you said, the reu works perfectly. The only thing that doesn't work is the carousel. I have the c64 maxi. With the USB stick it starts in classic mode. If I select carousel from menù everything is blocked. If I press ctrl f5 goes in vic mode, If I press ctrl f3 return in c64...

Does the Carousel freeze if so, I only just updated the file today, I didn't have enough time to upload it yesterday so you need to redownload it again and delete old version you have on your USB stick and replace it with the version I upload today, it under the same link, its called PCUAEv1.20Beta1.zip.
Sorry about that.
