Look at this picture and do you notice the Play and FF REW buttons in Media Access for Tap file..?  And the tape counter..  I asked about this ages ago.. on there FB page, looks like it been added to THEVIC20, I hope they add it to THEC64 Maxi too. |

It would be nice if this will be available to the maxi as well, but from the news section of thec64.com:
So what I understand is that only 5% of the owners downloads new firmware?

WOW, well RGL are the only company that offer updates, and not everyone get updates from there site, once I have downloaded one, I store the update so if I need it again or someone else needs it so I don't download a update twice but if a lot of people are not downloading updates then a lot of people is not buy the device too. They add extra features to get you to but the product, that why Media Access is not on the Mini. there properly do the same thing with TheVic20 when it comes out, RGL are marketing it as its a new device when its a TheC64 Maxi made to look like a Vic20..  . The Mega Drive, PS Classic and Nintendo Mini consoles don't have updates, they left it to modders like Mod My Classic to do it, those Mini consoles are more popular cause of it, maybe it was a mistake allowing you to be able to load your own games. that's why no official group(like Mod My Classic), has mod thec64 to play games in its Carousel at all, that why I made PCU, to try and put life back into THEC64, it like a dead man walking.. its a shame, if there no modding going on, on it then it becomes dead. RGL killed it themselves by releasing THEC64 Mini first so by the time the Maxi came out all the hype had left already cause it basically the same machine just bigger, they made TheC64 Mini first cause they never had enough money from Indigogo to make theC64 Maxi first and needed a partner with money that could built it so sign a contract with Koch Media to make TheC64 Mini first and if it good enough sales then Koch Media would build theC64 Maxi. RGL designed THEC64 Mini/Maxi but never built it, it was build by Koch Media in China, I can see a war coming agent China for how it treats its people so it could be cut off soon so get it while you can, I do believe we need to start making our own products now, from where the device was invented from and not just hand it of to China cause its cheap, the quality is crap from there anyway, by using China show how much RGL care for the THEC64, if it was made in house the quality would be better. RGL only made THEC64 to make money anyway, that's what its all about, money makes the world go around. |

I am afraid that if you made it in the vest with better quality it would cost three times more than what it cost today and only a hand full of people would buy it. After say 6 months China would have made a copy and the rest would buy it from AliExpress |

After say 6 months China would have made a copy and the rest would buy it from AliExpress It looks like the Update decoderfw_v02 program is not working properly, I think RGL has changed the containers in the update to 5 to include all the 5 machines, when it decodes the update it decodes it with 4 containers but I think they are corrupt and are missing files in the tar.gz files and payload0.tar.gz is bigger then it meant to be, 12.8mb when it should be 5mb, it like it joined 2 containers together. Fixed the program now to support both 4 and 5 sections, for extraction at least. I don't have C64 Mini files on my current computer, so can't really test it.
I should probably add an option to force number of sections for creation since I don't know if people are going to mix and match the updater binary and firmware versions.
