I have a Gasky 10 button arcade stick as was recommended to work on the Maxi. Id like to make a cjm file for it but first need to know which of each of the buttons on the original Thec64 joystick corresponds to which on the Gasky.
as the manual states which keyboard key each of the original controllers buttons corresponds to, I figured if I had a program that shows graphically which keyboard button was being pressed I could map out the new controllers buttons this way.
So, does anybody know if such a program or tool exists?
Thanks

You can only do it on a PC or Mac not THEC64, there is no program for the joystick on the C64, Joysticks on the C64 only have 1 fire button some have 2, you can't customize it on the C64 with a program. Plug THEC64 Joystick into the PC and have a look at the joystick setting and see what button is what number.. like 1,2,3,4,5...and match it up with Gasky 10 button arcade stick by plugin that in to the PC as well and see what buttion is what number and then made a cjw file from it and try to match the buttons up ..trial and error.

If it works then it in the gamecontrollerdb.txt file you can customize the contoller in that but need access to the firmware, I was thinking of over mounting that file in Carousel Games from USB so people can customize the controllers easier and add any controller that don't work with THEC64 Mini/Maxi.. Would you be interested in that..? I just over mounted the vice key files so it easier to change the keyboard... Cause Mine is THEC64 Maxi PI and uses different keys so like Alt is the THEC64 key and so on. The keyboard on the Maxi is not mapped the same as a Keyrah v1 is.

It's ok, I have sorted it with trial and error as you suggested
