Found a new bug due to some latest changes yesterday stopping your return to PCUAE - kept dropping you back to Firmware Carousel for a shock downgrade ;-)
Nick has fixed it overnight and I will test it this morning.
Davy is busy finalising the Dutch translation.
Tantalisingly close now so please jump on a support options for access to the early release very soon.
On Patreon there is a £2.50 and a £5 per month option now for early access or Beta and Early access.
Message Nick if you prefer to send a Paypal gift.
As an extra teaser - it is very nice to have access to all the machines on my C64 Mini through VICE Mode - especially a Vic20 with Final Expansion user configurable flash cart and MegaCart if you own one all done in software. Simply Amazing 1.5.0 is a beast.

Coming very soon now.....1.5.0 Latest release is quicker than most of the Betas to date and has Firmware, Linux, VICE and Gadget modes as well as TheCarousel. In this release there will also be a choice of English and Dutch languages on the menus. Really very impressed with how Nick has incorporated all our feedback and requests. This is a huge effort - show your support on Patreon or on Paypal links a page or two back in this thread and you will be invited to the early release! Sent 10 Euros a week ago, great work guys! |

Thanks to everyone, not long now.. If you need to use something in PCUAE 1.5.0 and do not know how, it now has a Help Menu so you can just look it up on your machine in PCUAE and not online.. I wanted a way of having the info in PCUAE instead of having to come here to look up how to use something in it to make it easier. |

So I donated and downloaded PCUAE 1.5.0 standalone. Installed it to my USB drive and tried it on my The C64 (listed in signature). When I try to apply the firmware I just get a black screen and nothing happens. this works fine with the v1.4.3 standalone PCUAE. What could be the issue?

I made a USB stick for 1.50.
My first game that I really like is Krakout, but it won't start.
I have created a new USB drive 3 times, but not all games start.
I don't have much time at the moment, so I don't have time to figure it out.
I like the way it was in the beginning, extract the file to usb and good to go.
I really don't like the pcu version, but that's just my opinion.
Can't there just be a zip file with everything in one go.
Ps the usb drive is good, copied my 1.43 back and everything works.
So it's not my usb drive

I tried for the 4th time, even when I try to reach the menu with right fire button and button 4 then the c64 freezes.
I took another usb drive, reinstalled everything and I still have the same problems.

Ian and Davy tested the setup standalone and it works for them.
The setups are a archive you can use 7zip to extract them they are winrar archives.

So it's not my usb drive Is Krakout a VIC-20 game..? if so you need to load carousel 1.3.2, it's on Argent 1.5.2 by default, Argent is THEC64 Mini and the Mini can not load VIC-20 games, press CTRL + F5 now and you be able to load the game. |

I am going to make a copy of my USB stick with Win32 Disk Imager and call it PCUAE-1.5.0-USB-FIX.img and upload it to the Pre-lease folder and it should fix your problem if you flash it to your USB stick with Win32 Disk Imager. |

Maybe your download is bad? I'd try downloading it again and see if that works. Also, long shot in the dark but are you using a 3.0 amp power supply? Some Maxi units shipped with I think a one amp power supply and it was causing some people to have issues with black screens and such. If I remember right it's supposed to have a 2.5 amp power supply but think I read somewhere others were recommending a 3 amp. I'd even try changing the power supply even if it's a 2.5 or 3 amp, because cheap Chinese USB power supplies are notorious for failing or not delivering the labeled amps. I had a raspberry pi crash on me and it was a faulty supply, which is why many say always buy an official raspberry pi one because their way more reliable. In fact, a 2.5 or 3 for the Pi 3 or 4 might be a good idea to use on the maxi to future proof it.

Hi Moby, your post seems to indicate you managed to boot the fake firmware and get to PCUAE Carousel with favourites - is this correct? When you hold menu for 1s then press right fire button the screen will go black for up to 20s I think. When you hold menu and left fire button this can be a longer delay the first time as it has to build some graphics files. Please can you confirm if you are able to access: 1. Run games from the Favourites on boot to PCUAE TheCarousel ok 2. Access and change TheCarousel with Menu + Left Fire 3. Access VICE Mode with CTRL + F1 - wait 30s 4. Switch back to Carousel with CTRL + F1 5. Access the PCUAE Options menu with CTRL + 0 or Menu + Right Fire Thank you. |

What you could do too, if you do not have a 3 amp power supply is use a USB Hub with power and connect it to your THEC64 Mini/THEC64 Maxi/THEVIC20 then get another power cable and plug it into your PC(if your machine is next to it) then plug the other end in to the USB Hub then you will get more power, thats if the USB Hub does not have its own power supply. Now when I wiggle the USB Hubs USB connector in THEVIC20 it dose not cut it off, and stop the USB HUB working.. it getting enough power now. |

Can you see the Splash Screens come up on the screen..? if not its not loading into a mode properly and only partly loading. So if you try and load the option menu then it will not work, it missing the files it needs to load it cause its not loading into a mode properly, when it should, did it install ok on the USB Stick, if the stick is too small then the setup will come up with a error saying it can not copy over the rest of the files, you need a 2 GB or more USB Stick. |

You should deactivate Autoboot Mode in 1.4.3 cause it not activated in PCUAE 1.5.0 and the startup script is a little bit different to 1.4.3 version so you will need a clean USB Stick and Autoboot Mode being deactivating in 1.4.3 first and the startup script been removed before installing 1.5.0 on a clean USB Stick and then activate Autoboot Mode on 1.5.0 and copy its startup script back so Autoboot Mode works fully.

Please once there uploaded please redownload them and try installing PCUAE 1.5.0 again, if you have the problem still download PCUAE-1.5.0-USB-FIX.img and try that.

Now downloading the fix.img
First i format my usb drive and wil boot the c64 without any usb drive.
Then i will put the new version in the machine.
The power supply i use 3Amp 5V tested and is stabel at 3 Amps.
Try it out now.
-Krackout is a C64 game
-Maybe your download is bad? : new version download
