Dam this is going to be hard to find, it only exits the PCU Options Menu the first time you press Menu-RFire Buttons or CTRL-5, after that the menu boots up everytime you run it, it only exits once.
There is something in Main-Menu.sh thats making it do it, but can not find it at the moment or its the Yaft script.
Dose it really matter..?, I think I put this on the Too Do List for now cause it don't stop the PCU Options Menu working.
What I have to do to find it is disabled parts of the code in the script until it stops doing it or until the menu boot up first time without exiting.
It terminating Yaft as the menu boots.

OK this is weird the PCU Options Menu works first time if you reload the Carousel with CTRL-o(not Zero) first, don't work with CTRL-F3 or F5.

GOOD NEWS, I fixed the bug...  so now you can see the files from the USB Stick from File Loader and Classic Mode(Media Access) in Autoboot Mode or from Fake Update Mode.... I figured, if its working in Fake Update Mode(running PCU from a Fake Update) then I should get Autoboot to boot it the same way so I got Autoboot to boot the start.sh instead and now its working.. Thanks god... I will Upload v1.4.2 today. Awesome! Thank you! |

Sorted out now the problem the PCU Options Menu was having, where it would not load up first time, it was been killed when PCU booted up the Carousel at start-up ... version 1.4.3 coming today.. |

Ok, I'm trying to understand this... I'm not so good with techstuff.
I installed firmware 1.5.2 today. Can I still get this project carousel usb thing? Can it harm my THEC64?
Should I skip doing this if I'm not sure how?
And can I still update the firmware after this? If they release a new firmware on the official site?

Yes you can still use it with v1.5.2 update installed, no it can not harm your THEC64, if your not sure read first post, yes you can update your THEC64 after using PCU, you can put PCU into Firmware Mode so you can update without taking out the USB Stick. If you have any more questions you like to ask, I am happy to answer them.. If you read first post and do not understand something, ask me and I try to explain it better. Sorry I did not release v1.4.3 yesterday but was trying to fix Midnight Commander, it has a problem exiting from it properly when you run it, you might for the time beaning have to reboot the machine to get out of it. |

Oh and RGL Splash Screen is back.. , so RGL Splash Screen(what its really doing is booting into the firmware first for 6 seconds so you see your built in Splash Screen for your model) then PCU Splash Screen, well you need to give RGL some credit... , and I think its cool.. , I like it, when you disable the splash screen in PCU Options Menu it will disable both of them so you just get a black screen at start up. and just after you see the RGL Splash Screen so between RGL and PCU Splash Screens you should if you want to start up the PCU Options Menu, its like a marker for it, the shortcut_key_selector.sh and button_selector.sh scripts start-up in the first script PCU runs first, autoboot_loop.sh script, it starts that script before Autostart.sh script, its where the Loop Device is, so you can see files in the File Loader and Classic Mode, it would not work without the Loop Device.(thanks jj0) If you need for any reason want to disable PCU, you can, just remove the start.sh script from the root of the USB Stick and it will stop PCU from starting up. |

The splash screen do not work that way, you can have any text inside the blue box in the PCU Splash screen, but it will not show anything out side it, they programmed the splash screen to have boarders and any text below the blue box will show on top of it, THEVIC20 had a different splash screen, they have changed it with different animation. I added a splash screen so you know when it was loading up PCU. This is what the PCU splash screen really looks like... What it looks like on the screen... Nick have you got older versions for download, as some are faster for loading with less option which are not needed for some people. cheers as now i just want to load the games and not have any of the extras.

No I don't have a older version and you don't have use the extra stuff in PCU, all of it is hidden anyway until you press the shortcut keys and no I can't speed it up it has to run different scripts at that time, like it knows where the saves are, the switch script and black out the splash screen.

I have speed up the loading time when you switch to a Carousel Gamelist Scree from the Carousel Gamelist Selector, I can not speed it up any more cause it need the sleeps in there, if I remove all of them then it runs the script to fast and I start getting ALSA(Advanced Linux Sound Architecture) sound errors and the Carousel crashes and do not start up.
It's now in v1.4.3, I never change the version cause I did it once before so it will be added to the v1.4.3 change log, and please do not ask about it anymore cause its at the fastest it can be now.
It now takes about 10 seconds to load up the next Carousel Gamelist Screen from the Carousel Gamelist Selector Screen.

First of all, I want to thank you for all your work Nick. But since the new versions I can't get it to work anymore. I personally find it so difficult to try a new version.
Download is going well. Installation is going well. Pointing and installing USB goes well.
But as soon as I put the stick in the computer I only have games in the faforite folder. Then I get lost.
What strikes me I had downloaded the latest version yesterday and saw that it was adjusted again yesterday. Just download the last one again, what's different I have no idea  I am really disappointed to upgrade like this, am I really the only one who is messing around with it like this I think the pcu aio is really a downgrade for me, I have now put some separate games on a stick that I play, but I am fed up with all that beauty now that it no longer works for me. What I see from the latest version that it is also not stable, black screen, joystick did not work once. Bha too bad ... |

If you install PCU AIO you will only have Favorites Screen, it does not include the other gamelists, I did like that so you can make your own with PCU Game Manager. If you want all the game then you need to install the standalone version, what you can do is install PCU AIO if you don't PCU Game Manager already, then when it brings up the setup to install PCU cancel it then install the standalone version instead. If you are having a problem after starting PCU and changing Carousel Gamelist Screens.. To change Carousel Gamelist Screens hold down CTRL and 5 or Menu Button(button 4) and Left Fire Button together and hold them down together for 2 seconds then release, then the Carousel Gamelist Selector Screen will come up then you can pick a screen with the joystick and press fire to load that screen. I will not be updating it for a long time now so taking a break from it so if you find a bug you have to wait a while before its fixed cause I can't keep on updating it all the time, v1.4.3 was that last update for now. |

Thanks again Nick i did mean 1.2 That is 1.2, its 1.2.0, I just didn't add a dot between 2 and 0 until later, so the version now is v1.43 or 1.4.3.. Or do you mean v1.0.2..? If I find more versions on my hard drives(I have about 7 hard drives and 3 computes networked together) I add them to that folder. Any version in the PCUAE Older Versions folder are not supported and classed as not stable, I am not responsible what they do to your machine, but they should work still, some are dev versions and some are released versions. just found v1.19 Just found PCU Mini Edition, it properly the closes you get to 1.2 was FUGS not BGS. |

Nick, I feel you've tried to please so many (perhaps "too" many) people by releasing a raft of new features in quick succession with no time to bed them down, or achieve system stability. Your tireless efforts are admirable. But all those attempted new features (some working, some not) have come at the expense of the all-important stability of the product. A jack of all trades is impressive, but ultimately it's a master of none. Of course, it's all free. We take it, or we leave it. The way things currently stand, sadly, I'll have to leave it. Not to worry. Congrats Nick and the other hard-working dev's, for all your toil and efforts along the way. I agree with that. If there are special wishes / errors, write this down and ready. I sometimes wonder that the same question is asked over and over again on the forum.
Have patience, even it bothers me while it does not concern me. That someone can make all of this and want to share it yourself is special. We must cherish such people. |

It's comforting to know that you're still maintaining a presence on the forum whilst taking your well-earned break, and that the first post is now in-synch with v1.4.3. What's the consensus of others as to which is the most stable version? My focus isn't concerned with the number of included features, but rather upon the system stability. And further, ensuring that there are no changes made to the Maxi's stock 1.5.2 F/W ... so that if I unplug the USB stick containing PCUAE, it'll revert back to the unaltered stock product. vic2020ian - you mention you're happy with v1.3. Why do you believe this is the best version? oocozyoo - your favourite is v1.2. Why do you prefer this one? |

1.19 is before I added the Carousel Gamelist Selector, so each screen is changed with a shortcut key CTRL-1 to 5 instead, and there's only 6 folders not 8 folders, I wanted to add more VIC20 games that why there's more folders now, 1.9 you can not add any more folders for games cause its tided down by the shortcut keys.
