So the joystick that came with my C64 mini broke. The stick snapped off. Some Googling has suggested this is a common problem.
I watched one video on how to repair it by replacing the attaching screw with a longer one, but I'm not very handy and getting it to come apart is proving to be difficult.
I could try to get a new one via the warranty, but their warranty support seems kinda flaky and a new one, same model costs $30, literally as much as the entire unit cost.
I would like to buy a different joystick that actually works, and I've found a few lists of controllers that allegedly do online, but the lists are all from 2018 and some people have written that firmware updates actually stopped certain models from functioning.
Does anyone have alternative joysticks that work? Ones that aren't took expensive.

I had mine only for like 3 days and it started to behave flaky. I really love the joystick for its responsiveness, but breaking that fast?? So I fixed the thing with the loose screw, but I also have the issue that the microswitches are hanging, and it keeps getting stuck in directions. So, how do we fix that? Buying a new one will just last as short? Or is this not a common problem with the microswitches??

You could use a Competition Pro USB Joystick.
On THEC64 Joystick MS, I think you can remove the metal thing, I think there called a leaf on the micro switches so you just have the switch sticking out, other older Joysticks with micro switches don't have them so don't know why they are there or the other way would be buy new micro switches and replace them with better ones.
Or get hold of a 9 pin dsub Competition Pro(or copy) Joystick and wire it to the USB part of thec64 Joystick MS board so you still can use the 4 red buttons.
Or do this...
If you set the speed to 0.25 you can see what he is doing better.
