Hi, I'm personnaly the happy owner (and user off course!) off a C64mini, and I m not sure to buy the new release from Retrogames theC64 "real size". Well, not now indeed..Just read the description of features on the official website and still not totaly convinced it would be a god buy for me, as I already have the mini but mainly because I was expecting something a bit different like a separated drive emulating the 1541 and Tapes, why not sold separtly as the Joystick was for the mini, wich could have been interesting option for people like me already owning the mini. The price will for sure be a definitive factor, but even it's no really a problem of money I told myself why not buy a true old C64 for the pleasure of true vintage feelings as I don't have one for now.I m that wrong about it or... Do someone else feel similar about it?? would be interresting to know what you think!! happy C64 every one!

I'm not buying it... as I'm already going to get it as I originally ordered the handheld from the Kickstarter. As they didn't release that they offered the Mini + 'Real size' instead.

I have notice one thing, they are making the case and keyboard first, thats properly cos they going to use the same software and hardware from TheC64 mini main board. They need to add a SD card slot to play your own games.
The case is a prototype its looks like the back of it is different and the fat C64 case from the VIC 20.the keys look like they shine like they have been painted but its just a prototype.

ok, if it's just a prototype can we expect a release date for 2019 (or an approximative like beginning or more in the end of the year 2019??)...? obviously there will be more for the final version, personnaly I would like a REAL good joystick, even sold separatly like it is for the mini, so the owner of mini can have the pleasure of the new improvements for the new release (even if not buying it) but a release date and a price at launch are what I m waiting for at first.
I think the ones waiting for theC64 will have much expectations..^^
wait and see!

Might very well get a large size as well provided I still get smooth scroll on Uridium. This works with several monitors I have but not all .. The machine needs an large internal memory and an sdslot ! And more USB slots.

The machine needs an large internal memory and an sdslot ! And more USB slots. This might be an NTSC/PAL issue. Most monitors will not work with 50Hz output and the Mini will then run at 60Hz so each 5th frame needs to be displayed twice, adding "judder" to the scroll. Most TVs run 50 Hz fine. You could try running an NTSC version of Uridium on those monitors.

You know why there is no handheld version, its cos of the ZX Spectrum Vega Plus, they made the ZX Spectrum Vega first, then when the plus went belly up they left RCL and made RGL and started advertising on indiegogo the64 in 2016,thats why they never got funded for the64 on Indieggogo, ZX Spectrum Vega Plus damaged them. I have a ZX Spectrum Vega and the keyboard mapping idea on theC64 Mini comes from that. Its not a great console,no pictures of the games and that,it has a very basic text interface, it might have 100 games on it but I would rather have 50 games and a better interface. It not worth £100,I got mine for £35 from ebay and it has one crap SD card slot,I have to put each game in a folder for it to see the games on it,if I put them in one folder and you only can see 2 games when theres about 10 games in it, I see why they removed the SD card slot from theC64 mini and went with the USB stick.
I do think Indiegogo now should not let companies or people put products up on there site without a working prototype.

just a question for me, is the microswitched joystick of the C64maxi gonna be aviable separatly as it was for the yoystick of the mini, not sure for me to take the C64maxi at launch, so it could be great for me as the joystcik of the mini was...hum not very efficient in term of precision!

If they can keep the price under $200 CND (after taxes), then I'll probably be buying myself one when it becomes available.

I have every intention of buying the full size version when released. I love the mini (currently it's being used more than my modern computer) and bought it specifically to relearn basic and assembly,
While I do currently own an original 64, it came with problems and the mini will be the platform to use while I restore its operation as well as obtain the peripherals.
when the full size one is released, it is on my xmas list. i look forward to using the actual keyboard without having to learn the mapping or use the virtual keyboard for certain things.

Also, in response to a qeustion I submitted to the RetroGame's support team, they told me that TheC64 will support on-the-fly disk swapping. So, for multi-disk games and programs, you won't have to go through the save/reload "trickery" that you currently have to do with TheC64Mini. So, it will be dead simple to program on TheC64.

I also have the mini which is still real nice but was looking forward the working keyboard version as soon as they announced it.
Now after playing around with thec64 for some days now, I can tell you the working keyboard makes the absolute difference compared to the mini!!!
Compared to a real c64 with easyflash3 and sd2iec, thec64 comes pretty close imho
