I just got my C64 mini. Although I liked the controller it comes with, the spring on it makes it quite unresponsive. I tried to use a pad from my Super Retro-Cade which is quite confortable and convenient for its SNES-like shape, and it did work... for the most part. I was able to play a lot of games, but for some reason, the C64 Mini never maps the fire button correctly in games like Cybernoid 1&2 and Jumpman, rendering them completely unplayable.
I would love to see a remap option in an update that would only activate with other controllers, it would help a lot, or official support for this controller so the console wouldn't mess so bad with it. If possible, it would be really good that the console will give a special mapping for this controller, it has the same number of buttons as the C64 Mini controller but the disposition is way different. My suggestion is that the buttons would mirror like so:
Super Retro-Cade C64 Mini
Y Left Fire B Right Fire X LT A RT L A R B Select C Start Menu
Thanks. I really love this product.

omc79 welcome here. This is not official forum so do not expect official replay here (although it seems that it is on eye of RGL, at least this forum is listed at official page). Regarding controller mapping, did you try to adjust your pad with CJM configuration file tool? It could be confusing at first but, once made, it become trivial to adapt it for all games that are in same (sub)folder(s). Just, you need to update Mini to last firmware for that (v1.2.0).

I did update it, and I'm aware of the CJMs, my problem is with three games included with the system. Is there a way to contact RGL directly?

Well, I found out what the problem is. The Retro-bit Retro Cade pad is apparently recognized as an 8+ button pad and for some reason, it maps TL to L and X and TR to R and Y, FIRE LEFT or RIGHT are not mapped to any button. Therefore, the pad is unusable for some games: Breakdance, Cybernoid 1 and 2, Everyone's a Wally, Jumpman, Nodes of Yesod, Spindizzy, Sword of Fargoal, Temple of Apshai Trilogy and The Arc of Yesod. It also leaves you with two less buttons to map on the CJM files. Such a shame since the controller is really good. I will have to stick with the joystick, after removing the spring is not that bad, it is still unresponsive but not as bad as it is with the spring.

To contact RGL directly, you can try their website or Facebook. But you could also try to edit the /usr/share/the64/ui/data/gamecontrollerdb.txt file and add the missing buttons. There's more info on the forum if you search for gamecontrollerdb.txt. And there's an official site that has some tools for Windows / Linux that help create the gamecontrollerdb.txt entry.
