It works quite OK... its fiddly though. 1541U(2) or chameleon are more convenient to use (but also more expensive, of course). UK1541 always kinda sucked, and had terrible support by the vendor.

I have one of the pi1541 drives as in the picture posted. I had to fit my own pi3 but it’s the closest i’ve found to using a 1541 drive. To load the games fast I use the final cartridge 3.

I just received my piDRIVE pi1541 HAT from Commodore4ever a few days ago, and after assembling and setting up the SD card it runs fabulous. I've found minor bugs with the HATs' display, but other than that it's a great solution. Two serial ports, and I default to drive 9. I've nicknamed it "Back to the Future" as it enabled me to copy all(!! can you believe it?) my ancient floppy disks from my equally ancient 1541, on to the SD card. In the process I used my original ca. 1985 copies of SuperCopy 64, fcopy and Fast Hack'em. 110% time warp! Then copy the disk images on to theC64 and VICE. I had written a fair amount of programs back in the days, and it is so weird to RUN them again after 35 years...
