I made an opensource DB9-to-USB adaptor that uses an Arduino micro pro (Leonardo) as mcu. Also designed a 3D case that can be printed on a 3D printer. All information can be found on my site how to build this: www.tsb.space/projects/c64-mini-arcade2usb-converter/Have fun with it!

Wow, it is really great! Menu button - it is quick&dirty smart solution. You can't load / save, but it is of less importance. I have to put it at Mini Wiki ASAP. If you are going to extended it, think about at least those two buttons (A,C - load, save gamestate/snapshot). According to CJM conf. tool online, Mini's joystick has 6 (+2 unused) extra buttons over DB9. I am not sure how to make all of it, small and cheap, to fit at the adaptor, but that solution will be 101% over existing one. Btw, do you have plans to sell those adaptors? If you do, I will put it at Mini Wiki page ( here). I am asking that because users of Mini are casual users mostly, they do not make DIY projects (Mini is plug-n-play product, after all), but they want to buy ready-made solutions. Anyway, tsb thank you for that project! edit: Mini Wiki updated: gurce.net/c64mini/hardware_compatibility_lists#usb-to-db9_convertersgurce.net/c64mini/open_source_diy_db9-2-usb

Thanks! I made it for all the tweakers who like to fiddle around with electronics/software. Next step is to add those buttons to the project, the Arduino has enough i/o's to make it happen. I can and will change the 3D design to fit all the buttons. Not planning, but everybody is free to offer it and sell it.. (they can make a donation to me ) If I can make 1 week a week longer, then I have time to do that.. Maybe I can make a few, but have to buy parts The parts will be arround $5; 3D print +/- $0.75, the Arduino Micro Pro ~$4, db9 male connector ~$0.15, wires/solder: ~$0.25 and assembly/test time Glad I can help the community a bit with this project. I started it because I didn't like the feeling of The64mini joystick at all, and I prefer the Suzo Arcade Joystick. I already had ordered an Arananet converter but that took 1,5 week before I received it, in the meantime I had some spare time, so I decided to make a converter myself..

hi, i found your amazing project a few days ago. Immediately craved a c64 mini. Bought one and tried to make an adapter today. but unfortunately without success. Got it to work in windows 10, but when it is connected to the c64 mini, nothing happens.
Guess I'm too bad with arduino.
Any idea what might be wrong?
Best regards

Thank you!
wonderful to be able to play with slik stik or tac2
(hope you have time in the future to write the code so all extra buttons can be used)
