Hello everyone... and i happy New Year. Any way to re-map a usb keyboard? And second: I use a speedlink comp. pro joystick (Sorry guys, the original c64 mini joy is way too stiff/unresponsive) would like to map additional buttons, but the cjm config tool doesn`t do much good there. Thanks :-)

Thanks :-) // J I'm not sure about remapping a USB keyboard, but for the Speedlink Competition Pro you can use this hack to access /usr/share/the64/ui/data/gamecontrollerdb.txt and add/change the definition for it. The default definition is: 030000000b0400003365000000010000,Speed-Link Competition Pro,a:b1,b:b5,x:b6,y:b7,back:b3,start:b2,lefttrigger:b0,righttrigger:b4,leftx:a0,lefty:a1,platform:Linux, ch1ller suggested: Fire Left = X Fire Right = Y Triangle left = back/select Triangle right = start (=C64mini Menu) 030000000b0400003365000000010000,Speed-Link Competition Pro,x:b0,y:b1,back:b2,start:b3,b:b4,a:b5,lefttrigger:b6,righttrigger:b7,leftx:a0,lefty:a1,platform:Linux,
But you could also try to manually create a .cjm file.

Thank you for a great answer... I doubt that i can pull it off though (seems too techical for my skillset).. Manually create ia CJM.. how does that work? You mean without the CJM Configuration file tool?...
THX

This uart hack is not needed anymore for Speedlink Competition Pro, since firmware v1.1.4. Again, I do not understand why "cjm config tool doesn`t do much good there". It is reported that people adjusted buttons there with cjm. @ remapping a USB keyboard: I am still preparing to do it myself. You'll need UART mod for sure; then: 1) back up all of .vkm files from Mini (/usr/lib/vice/C64/) 2) compare it to those at PC VICE v2.4 - install it if you didn't already (/usr/lib/vice/c64/ at Linux) 3) test your version at PC, then if works, replace those at Mini. This table should be of help for defining sym-keys values.

Because i´m an idiot.... Config tool worked like a charm.... Thank you for your help... Now i`m able to map the space button to the speedlink, and therefore not in need for a remapped keyboard :-)
Thx a million :-)

I found this gadget that can convert a keyboard to Bluetooth AND/or it can also act as a usb keyboard pass through that allows you to remap keys and even create macros/shortcuts. It could be helpful when adding a keyrah to a c64 mini when exact mapping is desired. handheldsci.com/kb/
