Hi all,
Just got myself a THEC64mini and am enjoying it, there is however a small problem:
As soon as I connect the mini to my TV the HDMI-CEC system is not working anymore, a mediaplayer connected to another HDMI port can not receive remote commands anymore from the TV remote. If I disconnect the mini it works again.
Could it be that pin 13 (=CEC bus) of the mini's HDMI port is wrongly connected ?

I've got similar problem that could be (or not) related to yours. I have external HDMI switcher for TV (rather old TV, it has only one HDMI port). You can switch to one (of three) device that you want, manually or by remote. But, when some device is turned on, initially it turn port to itself. This is how many TV sets works (with multiple HDMI ports). BUT: when some other unit is turned off (or all of them), it switched to Mini - even it is turned off! It is because Mini is providing some kind of powered signal, even when it is turned off. Hope it will helps.

Yes, HDMI-CEC is broken by the Mini, even when it is powered down. This is why I had to remove it totally in the end, it was just too frustrating to totally unplug it every time I wanted to use my Fire TV or my Xbox One. Poor Mini is now gathering dust...

I have checked pin 13 of the HDMI connector in the mini and it is connected to a resistor (pullup) and then it goes to the A20 chip so CEC is probably connected as it should but the firmware/software/kernel pulls it low instead of leaving it floating (or with a weak pullup as provided).

A brute force option (yet reversible) could be to lift HDMI pin 13 from the board in the mini. Better solution would be a firmware update of course.

Would there ever be any reason to revert this procedure? You would not control either the Mini nor an external Soundbar via the Mini. I will give this a try next week. Wish me luck finding the right pin!

Wish me luck finding the right pin! The pins are numbered in order so quite easy to find. (top and bottom numbers of HDMI are even/uneven)
I would like to see caroussel or menu selections with my TV remote, maybe some games can be played too but first of all the CEC pin should behave

The A20 supports HDMI-CEC just fine (it has a whole bunch of registers just for CEC), so it must be a kernel or configuration problem.

The A20 supports HDMI-CEC just fine (it has a whole bunch of registers just for CEC), so it must be a kernel or configuration problem. As far as I can see the 3.4.39 kernel that is used on the Mini doesn't have any CEC drivers. So while the SoC has the ability to control CEC this is apparently not enabled by the software. Later 3.4.x versions do have CEC support.

I can confirm that one of these plugged between the TV and the C64mini solves all the CEC issues. This should go into the WIKI, but also, the folks over at Retrocomputing really should put in a fix for this in the next firmware update too.

I put this at Mini Wiki FAQ, here. I also did inform RGL about it, with link to this thread. (btw, it is "Retro Games LTD", not "Retrocomputing" nor - even worse - "Retro Computers LTD", swindlers behind ZX Vega+ - although part of the crew was there, but before Vega+ / Mini)
