I just purchased an F710 and hooked it up to my mini, but it doesn't seem to recognize it. I can't move in the carousel, open the menu, etc. Any ideas on how to make it work? Does it not work on the mini?

Try to switch mode on the controller, the small switch at the front with the options "X" and "D". I have mine on "D", it works great on the C64 Maxi

I have set to "D" I tried "X" too. Doesn't work either option.
What is PCUAE? An alternate firmware for the mini?

That's the wireless Logitech controller, right? Pretty sure it worked fine from day one with the mini and maxi. Search these forums for that controller. Just make sure when you try the different switch settings on the controller that you turn off the mini first, throw the switch, and then reboot to try it. It might not work if you have the mini on and it plugged in when trying to switch. I'd also try it with no other controllers or devices plugged in.
Also, make sure you're using the latest mini firmware update that works with many more controllers, but I'm pretty sure even the first version worked with it.
And, try a power supply with a higher amp rating. The mini and maxi can get glitchy and not work with devices if the power supply isn't able to supply enough amps. Everybody is using higher amp power supplies than Retro Games Ltd recommends. Search these forums for info on what amps they recommend.
You can also use Project Carousel (PCAUE) which greatly expands ability to run more systems and games and provides more features such as controllers and being able to customize the firmware to work with them. Again, that info about it's features is in these forums.

Yes, its the wireless controller. I have updated to latest firmware. I have tried rebooting, multiple times. I have confirmed the controller works on my PC (in 'X' mode anyway, doesn't work on PC in 'D' mode). Maybe the controller is defective/not working in 'D' mode anywhere.

Maybe the controller or wireless dongle has firmware that needs updating? Did you also try not using the wireless dongle and plugging it in with a USB cable? I'd also read the full instruction manual for the controller. Maybe it's set in a weird mouse mode or something that isn't compatible with the mini. Also try different USB ports on the mini with the dongle or USB cable.
