Hi All, I would like to play Yoomp! Atari game on my VIC20 which is included on The400. I’ve seen this YT link about switching between TheC64 and The400. Tried replicating the same on my TheVIC20 but when I go to Menu-F5 Mode Changer and choose „PCUAE Mode - The Carousel Mode - THEC64/VIC20” and don’t get TheC64Carousel or The400Carousel screen (4:35). Instead there is message saying: „No, Loading PCUEA…” and then „Loading PCUAE Mode … Please wait….Setting Up… All Done. PCUAE Mode loading in about 35 seconds”, then reboot and back to PCUEA TheC64 Carousel. Am I missing any module or The400 is not going to be available to TheVIC20? PCUEA AIO with update v4.3.0.4307

Followed the advice from Gr Wizart (Thank you!) and went to Settings-Restore Toolkit 2.0.
From PCUEA settings menu I select Restore Toolkit v.2.0. Then I highlight TheC64 Maxi Firmware (nand) on TheVIC20 | The400 Mini. Then I get screen indeed describing there are now three carousels possible and asking to press A or B button to got to the next screen. If I press B button to select TheC64 or The400 I only get a dialog window asking to confirm enabling TheC64 Mode or Quit - there is no The400 mode option available. Anyway I select TheC64 Mode and apply with Return. TheVIC20 firmware gets replaced with TheC64. Then when I go to Mode Changer and select „PCUAE Mode - The Carousel Mode - THEC64/VIC20” I’m back to square 0 - I’m not getting TheC64Carousel or The400Carousel screen. Instead there is message saying: „No, Loading PCUEA…” and then „Loading PCUAE Mode … Please wait….Setting Up… All Done. PCUAE Mode loading in about 35 seconds”, then reboot and back to PCUEA TheC64 Carousel.
Any advice? At which point I’m doing something wrong?

you have 3 options 1 THEC64 maxi on the VIC20 or THE400 2 THEVIC20 on the THEC64 or THE400 3 THE400 on THEC64 or THEVIC20 then you select let say option 3 THE400 or Quit just select THE400 if you want THE400 on THEC64 or THEVIC20 as easy as it is gr Wizart THE400 Mode means THE400 Firmware on THEC64 or THEVIC20 THEC64 Mode is THEC64 maxi on THEVIC20 or THE400 THEVIC20 Mode is THEVIC20 on THEC64 Maxi or THE400 i look into it to make it more easy notice when you want back use restore nand or if you flashed THE400 use THEVIC20 on THE400 if you have the VIC20 edit done download update here

Many thanks @wizart - I downloaded the update and indeed Reset Tool now shows an info about the machine - cool! I successfully managed to update firmware and got The400 on TheVIC20 - Wooohaaa!!! The only caveat is that on The400 firmware TheVIC20’s joystick behaves strangely i.e on Yoomp! the fire button stops working after the „get ready” screen, while the same joystick works all fine when used in Yoomp! In Atari mode - joystick mapping?

just added to basic too LINKDavy, I tried the update and the joystick TheVic20 joystick does not work with The400 firmware on TheVic20. CTRL+F2 still crashes the machine. Rebooting I tried CTRL+Delete on a USB keyboard and it did nothing but at the The400 Carousel with CTRL+F3 I was able to get to settings then menu 2 and restore to TheVic20 firmware. My conclusion - The400 firmware on TheVic20 needs some more testing: 1 - Do the basic scripts and function key commands work? CTRL+f2 does not, CTRL+f3 does. 2 - Test the c64 / Vic20 joystick works to start games and moves left right, up and down.

let me know how it works for you Gr Wizart I did - update 4347 does not fix the joystick on The400 Carousel running on a Vic20....unless I have to reflash the nand to try this. The update alone did not fix the joystick, could not move in games. Did you test this and have joystick working on Asteroids or anything else?

Hi @wizart, looks like you’ve been busy with the new big release v4.4.0, recently. Any news about The400 firmware on TheVIC20 joystick issue (option 2)? It works if you add a 4 port USB hub to the rear of the TheC64 or TheVic20....sort of. I was able to run each game and try them out but the joystick loses controllability after 3-5 minutes. e.g. on third screen of Lee it just started moving left after a while. The The400 has a 4 port hub, you need Port 4 for Player 1.
