I bought the Cartridge-Version of the game and was disapointed that the .d64-files that came with the purchase did not work with the C64mini.
Thanks to the firmware-upgrade there is a way to play this masterpiece now. Requires a little workaround but its really worth it !
It´s in german .. But i figure you get the point without any german language-skills. If not - Just post questions here ! The file you have to download will most certainly show up as a virus - They are not. Buy the game if you have not yet !

archonHello, I bought the cartridge of Sam's journey, too and applied a special patch which I downloaded on csdb.dk. After this it is possible to include the CRT file into the carousel after creating a .tsg and so on, if you have modded your c64 Mini. The patch also provides a trainer version if you need that. The game works fine after patching.

I just wondered dose this convert the D64 images to a crt or something or when you bought the game you got it as a crt as well...  I ask cos I only have it of D64..? I was going to make it into a D82 image to see if that worked but this is interesting ..  (It's funny the title of the video is in english but the video is in German...odd,most speak English now so why not speak English,this video needs dubbing over with a english narrator.. If he did the video in English he would have a bigger audience.) |

Hey Spannernick, you do a great job here. The instructions in the video are very detailed. With me the steps described by me led also to success, it's the same way as described in the video. I bought it in june for 19,95 EUR and received a .zip including: .d64 images, .crt file, eeprom.bin, flash.bin vice.ini That protovision crt didn't work with the mini, but after patching I got a new created crt which works fine. Here is the patch: csdb.dk/release/download.php?id=199638 You might get a virus warning. It has to do with the type of patch, I guess. I had no problem with that. Sorry, you need to convert the "sams-journey-gmod2-flash.bin" not the "sams-journey-gmod2.crt"

Why dose Sam look abit like Rainbows Islands character,well the games are similar. Small characters like this remind me of South Park.. But love the games.. |
