I bought a c64 maxi recently on Amazon.co.uk. I plugged it into a pc usb port for the power and powered it up . The red led comes on. The hdmi out went to a hdmi to vga converter and into one of my video monitors. I got no picture. I then took the computer and powered it up this time the hdmi went straight into the hdmi input of a trusty iiyama hdmi 24inch monitor. Again no picture but red light was on. Can anyone reason as to way I have no picture. Otherwise I will send it back to Amazon disappointedly.

The most likely cause is the HDMI cable.
Try another cable and use a TV.
If it is still not displaying an image then it is probably a faulty unit, Amazon will exchange it.

Test it with a TV that has HDMI 10 years or less and if you see its screen then its the VGA adapter, it can have a problem depending on how old the TV is, my TV does not show every device that has HDMI on it and when you plug it in turn the TV off and on again it sometime has a problem seeing the HDMI from the device so have to reset the TV. My TV does not always see the PS5 so I have to turn it off and wait 10 seconds then turn it on again then it see it on HDMI2. SKY is on HDMI1, my TV is a old Hitachi HD 42 inch(14 years old now) and only has 2 HDMI ports, it was made by Argos because you can get the same model as a Bush(uses the same firmware, the TV in the bedroom... ) that owned by Argos, my TV is not a Smart TV, it only has Freeview on it and the Analog Signal so was made before the Analog was stopped, by this map it was switched off in 2012(London) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_switchover_dates_in_the_United_Kingdom , I guessed I got it from Argos in 2010 so its 14 years old, I do not like the TVs now that have no plastic bezel around them, easier to brake if you accidently drop something on it, the screen will end up cracking, they are making smartphones like it too and a bit silly, no protection for the sides of the screen if you drop the phone on concrete, phone screens should use plastic not glass, glass shatters, plastic don't if it not to hard, cheaper phones use plastic(Samsung Galaxy A22) and Flagship phones use glass(Samsung Galaxy S23) .
