I'm about halfway done tinkering with this project because I loved using Atari paddles on the 2600 and also using them to play games on the C64 and later Amiga, both of which as computers probably have more paddles as additional game controller options than any other home computer. Reason for that is many C64 and Amiga owners in North America had paddles from owning a 2600 before that. I'm still in progress of doing a simple hardware mod to attempt this and will update this thread when I test it. It won't require buying an Atari to USB adapter or anything like that either. It's so simple anybody can do it. Hope it works because there's so many great games on the C64 and Amiga that a joystick or mouse is terrible to use when a paddle really makes it a great game to play.

If you like paddle games, check out the Atari Gamestation Pro with 2 controllers with joystic and paddle control.
Atari 2600, 5200, 7800 and Arcade games (Pong, Warlords etc.) and exandable via micro SD card.

Yes have had my eye on that new console and planning to buy one in the future. The new 2600+ also has some nice features but I like the Pro better. They're both officially licensed Atari products but they really should have combined them both into one unit with the features like real cartridge port, SD card for more games and emulator expansion, and both USB and Atari controller plug ports.
I'm starting to think they intentionally leave out all expansive features to keep putting out more consoles. Look at how many versions of the Atari Flashback have been released. I wanted to buy one but it's such a cluster of confusing models now with things like joystick and/or paddle types it may or may not come with based on model that I've given up on trying to sort out which to buy. Both the 2600+ and Pro seem a step above all the Flashback models though.
Main thing I don't like about the Pro controller is one of the buttons is on top of the joystick. For those of us who only controlled the Atari joystick using our thumb on top of the stick that's a major issue. Everything else about it I like better than the 2600+, except no cartridge port.

Just received it.
The button on top of the joystick is to go back in a menu. The traditional button is still fire for most games.
Pretty good. I will upgrade the firmware later.
The controllers are wireless battery powered or plug in with USB C.
They work well with the paddle for Warlords.
Could be a good solution for the C64 Mini / Maxi / TheVic20 for paddle.
Let me know how to do the controller ID stuff and I can send it.

Thanks for the update. Of course too since the Pro is using USB I guess you could probably use many other controllers with it. Have you tried anything else such as the Hyperkin Trooper 2 joystick, which is an Atari 2600 USB clone but features two fire buttons and an additional 4 more buttons on the front and backside for navigation and other controls? It works well for things like Retropie. My only complaint is the stick is a little loose compared to an original 2600 joystick that hasn't had hard use.
