So Im new to all of this, but I think Ive followed all of the instructions correctly. I did the following:
Formatted my 32GB usb drive to FAT32 MBR using Rufus installed everything to the USB drive by going thru the PC app PCUAE manager Put the USB drive into the C64 Mini & booted up Went to the USB icon & installed the firmware Rebooted
This is when things seem off. The bootup process after this is painfully slow. Music will stop playing on occasion. It takes roughly 5 minutes to get to the main screen & whenever I try to do anything it is very slow. What am I missing?

What am I missing? What firmware is THEC64 Mini NTSC using to boot PCUAE on, it works fine on mine but the firmware its using is 1.6.1, if its the original so a low number like v1.0.10 or something then PCUAE will have a loading problem and your need to update THEC64 Mini NTSC firmware, once you updated it to v1.6.1 it should load fine.

If you use a cheap USB Stick thats slow then PCUAE will take longer to boot up, make sure the USB Drive your using is a USB 3.0 USB Drive, if it take a while to load up then it not 3.0.
And when you install PCUAE to it via it installer it will install it quicker too, the faster the USB Drive the better.
I use a micro SD Card: SanDisk Extreme 64GB, its gray and orange.

Do you use the regular Retro Games Ltd instructions to update the firmware? If so, wouldn't that not work because your firmware update has a higher version number, or am I wrong about that? Or, is there a way to update the stock firmware through PCUAE? Also, should auto boot be turned off on the existing PCUAE firmware first and are there any other steps that should be taken first too? Should you uninstall PCUAE first and then do the Retro Games Ltd regular firmware update?
