As your aware there is suppose to be a limit of displaying 256 files /folders on the mini and maxi , has anyone come up with the best file structure to sort your games on usb as ive tried all sorts of ways to list games and still they never show up correctly.there either missing games or even same games show up multiple times ! no idea why ? theres always something wrong with the way games are shown when added to a usb stick, even though there formatted correctly, i have used at least 3 or 4 3rd party programs all recomended in wiki to format a usb and always same results never display correctly even though im under the limit 256.!! ive tried many brands of usb and it makes no difference at all.....Is it a flaw of the mini and maxi ? as i get same results using both...is should be a simple matter of creating your desired folders and adding games....As its extremely FRUSTRATING AND ANNOYING WASTING HOURS AND HOURS just trying to get the games you want showing correctly...Im So fed up with wasting on time on this instaed of sitting relaxing playing games i want , that im at the point of boxing both my mini and maxi up for good and using my ORIGINAL 64 AS I COULD DO WITHOUT ALL THE HASSLE AND FRUSTRATION WASTED ON THESE DAMNED MINIS/MAXIS !!!!!!
Any advice on the best folder structed to use that actually works correctly with all games added showing as they should would be appreciated, thanks..

One way is to use the carousel instead of the menu but you would need PCUAE Manager for that, you can export to the USB Menus with it too so organize your games in it then export the games to THEC64. Maybe its a bug in it, I do not really use the menus, I use the carousel mostly, on the carousel you can see 255 games per page in PCUAE, thats one of my gameslist its included with PCUAE Manager.

The PCUAE Manager is great for exporting games to file loader. It creates cjm files for each individual game. The cjm file is read by the fileLoader or media access to configure joystick port, key mapping and other system properties, these files are not shown when browsing games on a USB stick. Just select the menu option "File/Export/Export to file loader..." and then choose which games to export and a folder on your USB stick where they shall be exported to. The help menu in PCUAE Manager points to the github wiki where more information is available: github.com/lantzelot-swe/PCUGameManager/wiki/Lantzelot

It says this in the PCUAE Manager wiki... github.com/lantzelot-swe/PCUGameManager/wiki/Exporting-gamesso you export it if you were exporting like you would if to the carousel so `File> Export> Export to File Loader` instead, then pick the folders of games(Export Gamelist Views) or by game(Individual Games) that you want, and put in the name of the folder you want it to export the games to in the target folder. Click on a Gamelist Views or Game then press the Right arrow in the middle and see it move over from Left box to the right box, once you done the games or views you want and they are in the right box then click on Export button and it will start the export to the target folder. Export Game Views Individual Games Hope this helps...

A gamelist view is just a filtering of the game list with some criterias you define, as described here: github.com/lantzelot-swe/PCUGameManager/wiki/Gamelist-ViewsYou can filter on all games where title starts with "a" for example, or where "author" includes some text, or a combination of other fields and values. If you want to create a custom list with your favorite games it's better to use one of the favorites lists. You can add games by selecting them and press "CTRL+F1", then they are marked as "Favorites 1" and will appear in that list. There are 10 different favourites lists you can use, (use CTRL+Fn, where n=1,2,3,4 etc. for the different lists). Just to be clear, There is only one "list" of games in the database, you never put games into a gamelist view. The views are just a filtering of the "all games" list and its possible to have several gamelist views that includes the same game.

I think your asking how to get PCUAE Manager to make a gamelist from Genre Shoot em up so copy all shoot'em up games into one Game View...? Can PCUAE Manager use the Genre as a gamelist view...? Maybe what makes it confusing is some users do not know the buttion with the 3 dots on ... under file is `Add gamelist view`, `Edit gamelist view` or `Delete gamelist view`. Got a error when trying to add a gamelist view named Shoot 'em Up and added to the field Genre and begin with text and value shoot 'em Up Could not save game view.

ah its the ' it does not like it so it has to be shoot em up without the `coma ... Z so `C64 Shoot em Up` and add to the game view by using the 3 dot button, and adding to `field Genre` and `begin with text` and `value Shoot`, then it will find all games that are under Genre Shoot 'em Up. I did it... but there are 408 shoot em Up games in there and will now need to be split cause you can only see 255 games in the carousel so there are 26 letters in the alphabet so half is 13, so A to M and N to Z so should make 204 games per gamelist view. You need to now press on the 3 dots to edit the gamelist view so it filter the gamelist to show 0 to M and then make another gamelist the same way but filter it so it shows N to Z, like: You need to add the 0 to 9 numbers to the first gamelist view filter otherwise you will not see games like 1985 or 1942, like:

The views are just a filtering of the "all games" list and its possible to have several gamelist views that includes the same game. I just come across a problem with PCUAE Manager, well two problems: 1. It does not filter for dubplate games now it can import games from different gamelists in the carousel and have 2 or 3 sets of the same game in its games lists, maybe add a no duplicates in the Gamelist view filter. 2. Just Exported a gamelist view with a game Info slot in it called `0 <--- Shoot em Up 0 to M ---> 0` and it never exported it to the USB Drive, it exported all the games from 0 to M ok. Game Info slot In PCUAE USB Drive: H:\THEC64-CAROUSEL-GAMES\C64_Shoot_em_up_0_to_M_ Its not there...? Edit: I changed its name to `0 <-C64 Shoot em Up 0 to M -> 0` and it exported it OK... weird.

Having a ' in the gamelist view name is a bug, I can fix that, it messes up the SQL query when saving the view.
I tested with the same name of an infoslot (0 <--- Shoot em Up 0 to M ---> 0), and for me it's always exported correctly... not sure what happened there...

Yeah weird ... how about a duplicate filter...? So say: Field Operator Value Title Begins with text No duplicates so you don't see in the Gamelist view games with the same name, All games have duplicates in them cause of the C64 0 to G and OneLoad-64 gamelists because they were imported from the carousel but each game uses a viewtag for each gamelist so has the gamelist view name as the tag so `C64_0_to_G`, `C64_H_to_R`, `OneLoad-64_0-B` depending on what gamelist the game belongs too so they are ok when you export them but makes duplicates if you make a new gamelist view, It was when it imported the games from THEC64_CAROUSEL_GAMES folder, it saw them like separate games so imported all of them even if they had the same name, it still added them, I hope you understand... New gamelist view with duplicates games in it. Or add a option to `Remove all duplicates games from a Gamelist view` and maybe ` Remove all duplicates from All games view`.

Hmm, I think trying to handle duplicated games in this way can become very complex and not very intuitive... how do the manager know which game to include in the view, since there are two or more games matching the query? Just pick the first one? What if you want the second one and not the first one included in the view?
Games with the same name might also not be duplicates at all.. just differernt games with the same name, which one to include then?
I think it's better to configure the filter for the game view with more fields than just the title ,add the view tag also for example, to separate games for different views. It's already there, you just might need to add a view tag to the games you want to have in the view.
It's also easy to add a view tag to multiple games at once, there is a menu option for that. Just select the games in the "all games" view (with ctrl + click) and edit the view tag for all of them at once.

In one game view there are 135 games and have to click on each one to change all view tags to the same tag `C64 Shoot em Up 0 to M`, wouldn't it be better if you had a `Select all` under edit so it selects every game in the gamelist view, if you have 255 games and all need the view tag of the Gamelist view, it will take a while.
I think a lot of people like features that do things for them so are automatic.
And maybe the button with the 3 dots `...` confuses people, maybe rename it to `Select Gamelist view`, `Select Gamelist`, `Gamelist` or something, maybe they do not realise its a button because it just has `...` on it.

Thanks for the Gamelist video, i must say it does help on creating a gamelist..Thanks..
And maybe the button with the 3 dots `...` confuses people, i would suggests renameing to Create Gamelist...
Also, how would you filter out the games you dont want from the dattabase list,as there will be ones you dont like or are rubbish, and you only wanna put in your Carousel only the Good ones.. thanks for the help guys.

Use Ctrl+a to select all games in the view, then use ”edit viewtag” menu option to change all at once. Since selecting multiple items in a list uses some shortcuts that are standard on windows (ctrl+click, and shift-click to select a range or multiple lines) I have not added any menu options for them... I use that all the time in other applications also, and you get it for free in a Java list. Perhaps it's clearer for everyone to add a menu option for it... I got the inspiration for the "..." button from Gamebase where you can add different views in the same way, it's to save space in the UI... I can add options to add/edit and remove gamelist views to the File and Edit menues also, so that you can access it from there also, then it might be easier?

Just had another idea, maybe in Help tab add a shortcut keys list so you know what set of keys to press, I didn't know about CTRL+a, I added something like that to the Mode Changer when you load it, it shows the shortcut keys(CTRL+F1, CTRL+F3 and so on) and the shortcut on THEC64Joystick buttons(Menu+LFB, Menu+RFB and so on).

Some people like things done for them but you can not always have it that way, if you never play around with PCUAE Manager then you will never learn how to use it, that how I leant how to use it, it part of exploring and finding out new things, wow... never knew I could do that... I did look at the manual(Wiki) only parts of it, most of the time I don't, only if I need help on how to use something in it. I am not a big reader, I had problems with reading when I was a kid so not a quick reader and sometimes skip words when I scan a sentence, thats why I miss a word sometimes when I am typing something, dam Dylexia... I HATED reading when I was a kid, forced to read a book out allowed and could not read the words in it properly or understand what the word meant, I read/write better now only cause of the internet, it helped me learn...
