I bought a C64 MAXI when they first came out. Used it probably 10 times, all worked great. I tried it the other day, and it won't power on.
I tried several different USB power supplies, and different cords, I tried powering it thru the USB port with a powered USB hub. NOTHING.
I opened it up today, the leads running to the red LED power light were touching, bare metal sections of the Red and Black leads were touching. I assume that shorted something out and it is now a plastic pile of crap. I googled it, did not find much of any info regarding a C64 MAXI not powering on.
Maybe I am missing something, MAYBE there is still hope.....anyone have any ideas of what I can do with this thing to force it to work (I am thinking about smashing it with a 20lbs sledge hammer, just to see it explode) can I use the keyboard with a raspberry pi running VICE? That would be cool....
Any ideas? (helluva first post but hey, it's the internet)
Thanks in advance if there is hope.

Looking at my THEVIC20 the power light has a resistor on it and its all glued to the case so there no way it can come off, maybe they did it differently on the early THEC64 Maxi's, if it did touch the board it could of touched the power USB connector and shorted the board, does it smell, if something has blown in it, it has a plasticky burn smell to it, you have to sniff the main board or you might smell it when you opened it, if so then something on the board has blown. You could always use a Orange PI PC H3 and run the firmware on it cause thats what the board is based on, the firmware is on here for download. The keyboard is a USB keyboard so have 4 wires on it so if your able to connect it a USB A Cable with the wires connected to the right wire on the USB A Cable then it will work. Anyone connected THEC64 Maxi keyboard to the PC and got it working at all, some one out there might know how to wire it up...? Some Pictures... Light wire glued... Close up of USB Board and its connector where the 4 wires are connected The 4 wire cable connector that connects to the main board(you could connect a USB A Cable on it)
