What did you build AllWinner's A20 Lichee SDK on..? I guessing you don't have to build it on a device with the same specs as TheC64 MIni or do you,are you running it on a LIME..? You could run the SDK on a Cubieboard2.

"guru" ) i havent really understood yet how they patched their UI into VICE (but i didnt look close yet either) - depending on how they did this it should be fairly easy to extend to other machines. there perhaps would have to be some kind of menu to select the machine though. for personal use, i'd probably remove their UI alltogether and just use SDL-vice as it is, then all the things that are missing now would just magically work =P as for the missing files... thats indeed sneaky. they should provide everything you need to build the exact same binaries that are on the device.
I don't want the UI removed,I don't like that idea,If I want plane Vice I would use my RP3 and Combian64,I got this cos I like it the way it is and how the UI looks,Is unique and there is no other device like it,(Ultimate 64 but thats full size)I don't mind other Commodore machines added from Vice but not other emulators. When I use Vice I only use it for the C64 only anyway, but can see other wanting the Vic 20,C16/plus4 or even a Pet,I did have a Commodore Pet but lost all the programs for it along time ago, well I sold them, they were on tape, and I use to play some of them on the C64. I like the UI and the TheC64 Mini needs to be kept the way it is. That's why I bought it in the first place in February.I don't want it going Vallila (Vallila means plane just incase no one knows.. )

Yeah I can't help spelling words wroung cos I am dyslexic and have Autism as well. so I sometime am typing and miss a word that I see in my head but have missed on the screen.. By the time I was 16,I couldn't read or write properly,I am abit better now only cos of the internet and social network sites(the internet taught me how to read,I hated reading,I never read the instutions on a C64 game, just looked to see if the game looked good on the back of the cover and hated text adventure games, never played them.) but do still miss words or spell them wrong or type a word in place of another word. Dyslexia is a common learning difficulty that can cause problems with reading, writing and spelling. It's a specific learning difficulty, which means it causes problems with certain abilities used for learning, such as reading and writing. Unlike a learning disability, intelligence isn't affected. Autism is a developmental disorder characterized by troubles with social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior. Parents usually notice signs during the first two or three years of their child's life.

Groepaz I just realized who you are,I am a bit slow sometime,Just seen your name come up in Vice when I compiled it,wow a team member on here... Can I ask one question,What dose the "x" stand for in x64,x128,why not "c"..? ..

Post by groepaz on Dec 1, 2018 15:37:18 GMT
the "x" comes from the unix X11 (xwindow system), before it became "VICE", the original emulator was just "x64" (for unix)

Dyslexia ... Unlike a learning disability, intelligence isn't affected. I would not agree. I think that dyslexia helps somehow to improve your intelligence, because you have to make your own workarounds (improve other skills). My son got it (mild stadium), I've got some sort of it as a little child too, probably. As a stubborn one, I "fixed" it very early. But even today I found myself reading things backwards or swapping letters / parts of words, occasionally. It is fun, unless you're not a e.g. hard-core programmer. >Autism: it is probably more like Asperger syndrome. Well, join the club!

With all respects to Chris Smith, I wish that RGL hired Groepaz instead: Mr. Smith is Z80 / Speccy guy by default afaik. Or even better: that Groepaz hired them (evil genius at his best ). There are rumours about inspirations for Elvin the Atombender...

How is the hacking coming along,I hope we will be able to boot from USB like on the Playstation Classic and BleemSync, you can add games on a USB Stick or sd card and sd card reader and then put into the PSC and it boots from it and keeps the games that on it originally still on it,so it boots the OS on the USB instead,I think that would be a good way to go,that way you don't have to play with the OS on TheC64 Mini and maybe do something wrong and stop it from working.Just remove the USB stick and the C64 Mini is back to the way it was before. WOW it took them a week to hack the PS Classic.. Well helped a lot by Sony leaving there keys on the system.. Soon you be able to play C64 games on the Ps Classic with RetroArch.. mmmm Might get some ideas from it on Github.. github.com/pathartl/BleemSync

i think the hacking is dead, there is not great interest in the c64 mini anymore. i had my hopes up too high, only to have them diminished. but maybe THEC64 comes to the rescue, they are frequent firmware updates
i had hope to get a amiga core running with the original c64 keyboard i really love the carousel type loader of the mini

i had hope to get a amiga core running with the original c64 keyboard FIRST AND LAST WARNING: Stop spreading FUD here. 99% of your posts are just trolling. NO, it is not true that "there is not great interest in the c64 mini anymore" nor "seems that many people lose interest very quickly." We here are not interested about listening of "lags" of joystick, broken joysticks of other users, "nonworking" keyboard, "RPi and keyrah" instead Carousel that you like so much (?), "Amiga instead C64" (Amiga in a case of C64???) and so on. ONLY ONE POSITIVE POST AT ALL, and that one is not related to Mini, but to external sd card reader that mimics 1541 drive. All what you care about is to steal, somehow, Carousel-menu to your own Amiga version of same. Prove me wrong. edit: I moved your old toxic posts away. Those are archived, but are useless anyway.

my apologies sir, in the future my post will be 100 percent positive. but in my defence i'm not trolling.
i saw the video from Perifractic where he put a 64 mini into a c64 breadbin. i really really liked that, so much that i decided to build one myself. and i dont want to replace the c64 core with the amiga core. if it is possible i would like to have some amiga games on the carousel and play them.
those hakchi guys did it on nes and snes classic, they could use other cores.
i have 2 Competition Pro USB Joysticks,so i only needed the mini. in my quest to get a second hand mini,i came to a conclusion there are lots available. therefore my text: seems that many people lose interest very quickly..
the snes and particularly the playstation one was cracked within a week. therefore my text: there is not great interest in the c64 mini anymore.
so if you still think i'm trolling feel free and remove my account. the only thing i'm guilty of is thinkering whit the mini.
edit: in my text 1 also stated that: THE64 does have frequent updates and thy might help us out... sounds positive to me. edit: maybe in your anger you did not notice that the video was of the 64 mini pcb and the keyrah, i dont have a RPI

Losing interest in low level hacking is not the same as losing interest overall! Something that did not come to your mind: Perhaps people are more satisfied with TheC64 Mini as it is, then those with NES, SNES, PS classic?
TheC64 Mini is born along with enormous, semi-organised wide spread storm of disinformation. It is kind of miracle that it survived, as a project, at all. Plenty of early buyers (and backers of big version that got Mini for free, as a present!) came to e.g. Lemon for advice: 99% posts there were biased against product. I am talking about thousands (!) of posts with false informations. Basically, project is all over again described as "take money and run" swindle, and product as crippled and unusable. Confronted with that lies, every sensible buyer sold it as fast as it can! Then US and Canada started to open. Here comes another story: Because of missing product and raising demand, Mini that was 60-80€ (70-90$) in Europe now was re-selling at e.g. eBay for up to 200$! Same trolls that tempered EU users to sell their gadgets were reselling it in US for 100% gain! Then, Amazon pull whole European storage to US market and price stabilised in time. Still, there are plenty of "dealers" that bought it with "easy money" in mind. Now those are left with plenty of "spare" Minis. Why should somebody bought it from them for e.g. 40€ when brand new one is 55€ now, often even less at sales? It is classic example of trolling: plenty of S**tstorm, then "but I love you all". Not impressed at all. Maybe you forgot what you did post at RPI hack thread? I ordered a Keyrah, i think it will arrive this week. had the same idea to put this in a c64c case. the mini came second hand, the previous owner broke the joystick. seems that many people lose interest very quickly. RPi != mini pcb; C64c != Mini's case; Amiga !=C64.
Everything is fine with that, just don't spread FUD around, by mistake or intentionally. You don't have to be 100% positive - now you are sarcastic. Don't. Sir Skullface. It is perfectly ok, just - you won't have Amiga games at C64 Carousel before somebody steal Carousel and reverse it to UAE. Parts of it are not open source afaik and there is a reason why it is done that way. You have 30K+ C64 games to enjoy; use UART hack and make your very own hundreds of Carousel version, if you like. My advice for you: you want Amiga AND C64 & Carousel menu, in same, retro cute sexy case?Instead keyrah, afford RPi, put some Amiga emu with good GUI (user menu) there, place it in Mini case (plenty of space there) like this guy did and afford some good wireless keyboard (I am using this one) - or one with USB hubs included like this one. When / if somebody reverse Carousel to Amiga (mind you: VICE is not UAE!), then you can update it. Btw: I'll be glad to see Carousel clone elsewhere, free to use and modify - regardless how we came to it (it is not nuclear physics - still, it seems easier to stole it then to write your own version, which is pity imho).

you want Amiga AND C64 & Carousel menu, in same, retro cute sexy case? no, i want the mini in a c64 case working with the original c64 keyboard. i really like that carousel type loader so i wanted to keep that, maybe a option to boot straight into basic. this is what i want nothing more... edit: and if those hakchi guys come with a hack, then i would like to get some amiga games into the carosel.

then i would like to get some amiga games into the carosel. But that means UAE (Amiga emulator). Frankly, I don't see a problem (in theory) to put Mini in a (spare) C64 case. It is just a question of time and effort. Here, I just got it from this thread. Keyrah has it already implemented afaik. edit: just check Joe Forster's site: ^ the same, much clearer here

"maybe a option to boot straight into basic"...why..? I don't get it,a RPI3 and Combian 64 would've been cheaper,if you just want to put in a C64 breadbin case,"i really like that carousel type loader so i wanted to keep that" you can't have both... ? If I wanted just Vice booting I would of used my RPI3,but don't see the point of disabling the Carousel,it The Mini's character. It's what makes The Mini different from other Mini Consoles. I would never want Amiga games on it,Just because your able to,do mean you should,I have the Armiga for that and it would not be able to run the Amiga games on the Carousel because its part of Vice. The Carousel is Vice. If you want to run C64 games and Amiga games together your best bet is a Raspberry PI3 not TheC64 Mini.Just because it possible on the Snes Classic don't mean its right,I don't buy Mini Consoles to play other emulators on them,All I care about is if I can add other games like on TheC64 Mini C64 games,Playstation Classic PSOne games and so on. not other emulators. Oh and Keyrah Joystick Ports don't work on the Mini but the Keyboard works,I have a V1 Keyrah.C64 version, first version had 2 version, the other one was for Amiga keyboards. Now V2 works on C64 and Amiga Keyboards but Joystick ports still don't work because they are mapped to the keyboard not USB.

i'll been beaten there enough. so before i comment:these are my own thoughts and it's got nothing to do with real hardware, emulation, or FPGA. i used vice on my computer for some time now end i grow accustomed to the point and click type gaming. a real c64 is nice to have but not very user friendly. if you would like to ask how my project is coming along, it's not: the mini is sitting in the living room by the tv. when my kids coming from school they are playing boulderdash. so i think my project will resume when my kids lose interest edit:in this thread FULL SIZED THEC64 - announcement for 2019 you can see my post just above the post from paul andrews. bert norg, i hope that clears things up

"The Carousel is Vice" no, its not. its just a frontend slapped on vice - you can pretty surely also slap it on another emulator. it wont be trivial and require at least a bit of programming though.

Point that you missed here: skullface prefers Carousel over VICE. VICE is remarkable piece of software imho, but they made a pretty good job with Carousel: C64 is sexy again!

What I meant was when I seid "The Carousel is Vice" is its embedded in to the the64 program that has a command line version of Vice (it reminds me of the old dos version)embedded into it so if you tried to split the two the code is intertwined in the program and you won't be able to cos its one program. I have always said the Carousel is a Front End like 3D Arcade but RGL don't like you calling it that so I don't. TheC64 Mini will never be hacked cos it's still getting updates and there is no point when you can add games via the uart, the uart trick killed any hacking on the device,if it was going to happen it would of in a week of it first of its release like the Playstation Classic, that was hack in a week cos there was no way of adding games to it and it don't get updates.RGL are still releasing them and if someone hacked it the updated could mess up the hack and mess up your console cos you don't know what parts of the system has been updated. Plus the source code would have to be updated everytime they release a update cos its based on a old firmware update so bits would be missing now,it was 1.1.4 now we are on 1.2.0 so the firmware has changed. Sorry for me waffling on and on and on ariston .. Recognize the music.. Hope this cheers you all up Merry Christmas too..
