C64 Controller Fix.

Fix it.Replace plastic piece just underneath the bottom of Stick.Inside the Controller on hexagonal metal shaft of Joystick,make piece out of metal tubing,paying attention to diameter,thickness,length is important.Rinky dink peice of plastic used is a shame,it affects the control of adeptness,causing stops,sticking,or not working at all,if worn or broken.Frustrating or impossible to use,at important points in Games,the piece is probably broken or worn,I can't see how it passed inspection,as it wears or breaks fast,can't believe they did not make it out of metal,fig that.Attention must be paid to wires to keep them safe out of the way,as tightening casing of Controller on wires breaks them,means another fix.Can use small pieces of tape to hold wires in place,recommended.Tap new metal piece on,placing exacting as possible,sizing and placement of new metal piece matters really bad.If exacting enough,allowing tapping,holding in place,permanent,if lucky,onto shaft.When opening Controller,at least half of plastic piece on shaft of Joystick'll probably fall out when opened,as it's plastic,thin,weak,and any but Wico construction.I cannot emphasize enough to replicate the exacting sizes of this piece,as it allows the adeptness of movement,Controller won't work w/out it.Stainless steel is best,though I at first cut off a portion of one of the inner unused tubings,worked grand till worn fast.The S.S. can eventually be cut with a fine toothed metal Dovetail saw.Milling it exacting is best,though I acheived it with fine metal files,etc.End the frustration,as the more exacting the replacement of the new metal piece,the better adeptness of the Game play.I also made a Base out of 3/4" thick Plycore wood,screwing the bottom of the controller to it with Washers,a careful drill hole to tighten/loosen.Base about a foot wide,six inches front to back.Prime,Paint,apply Video Game Stickers,draw,or print out any wanted,fit artistically around Joystick,triple polyurethane a few coats.Studying a new,unused Controller can help in where to place,as any deviation from original sizing causes problems of Controller adeptness.Peace out.                                              THE ARCHAIC KNIGHT MIKAL VAN.
