Hi there,
It seems that TheC64 first boot shows a prompt in some TVs to select between 50 or 60Hz video modes. I can NOT get this prompt to appear on any of my TVs, so I have to hack my way and add an script to my TheC64 Mini's nandb /etc/init.d that uses a10_display to force the TheC64 Mini to boot into 50Hz mode.
But I would like to try another way: I need the file /var/lib/the64/profile/0/settings.dat from a PAL TheC64 Mini that has been set to 50Hz, so I can compare it with my settings.dat in an hex editor and look for the differences.
So, do you have the settings.dat from a 50Hz TheC64 Mini, please?

So, do you have the settings.dat from a 50Hz TheC64 Mini, please? That 50/60Hz selection only happens for THE64 Maxi/VIC-20, not for the Mini's. AFAIK the only ways to 'convert' an NTSC Mini to PAL are to either use a PAL NANDB and a10_display (as per how PCUAE and your guide do it) or use USB boot to boot a PAL's Mini kernel, script.bin and NANDB rootfs or overwrite the entire NAND with a compatible PAL NAND image. But the first method is the easiest.

THE C64 Mini does not have 50/60 video mode screen, only THEC64 Maxi or THEVic20 does, THEC64 Mini had 2 machines one PAL and one NTSC, it looks like your bought the NTSC version, they are being sold in PAL regions at the moment, cheap probably old stock that was not sold in the US, they have a American PEGI on them, they are gray not a yellowy gray, do not buy them, make sure when you buy a THEC64 Mini it PAL, you can only do it by chrooting nandb from the PAL version, like how I did it in PCUAE and you can switch PAL and NTSC as well in PCUAE, you can use the carousel from THEC64 Maxi as well in PCUAE on THEC64 Mini but only works on a PAL model so THEC64 Mini NTSC has to be mounted as a argent PAL cause the64 binary dose not load on NTSC shield model.
