Hello dear forum participants, it seems to me that this forum has currently taken on some comatose features. I mean, everything seems to know is exchanged and somehow there is hardly anything going on here. That's very unfortunate. I for my part would like to report further on my experiences with this device. After modifying my C64 Mini, I dedicated myself to the Arcade Stick. I tried different devices. The Competition Pro USB from Speedlink seems to me to be somewhat unsuitable for different games. And so I first tried the very cheap Lioncast, price 20 EUR. I exchanged the buttons and the stick for Sanwa parts.
The Lioncast electronics was detected in the gamecontrollerdb. However under the name Asia green, or similar.
I test every stick with the game Track and Field. A stick that works well with this game also works well with other games, I guess.
Who is faster? 😀 My Record with the modded Lioncast in 100m is 7.40 Sec.
Next I tried the Mayflash Arcade Fighting Stick V2, price 70 EUR. It was also recognized in the gamecontrollerdb, under the name PS3 Controller. However, it worked only conditionally and created many false functions. I had to send it back. Creating my own controller mapping with the SDL2 Gamepadtool for Linux didn't improve either.
Next I tried the Hori Real Arcade Pro N, price 120 EUR. This is a very nice stick that weighs over 4 kilograms. But unfortunately it wasn't recognized at all. Also the creation of a mapping with the mentioned tool didn't bring any improvement. So I also had to send it back.
Does anyone know a higher quality arcade stick that works reliably with the C64 Mini and is reasonably affordable?
Another idea would be to choose a working controller from the original C64 Mini gamecontrollerdb and buy it used one on ebay,
maybe a gamepad, Joypad, whatever... Then it would be possible to remove the board and build it into an own case with original Sanwa parts.
That's it for now.
Greetings...
