Downloaded VICE for the Mac and with it came petcat, an app that runs inside Terminal and supposedly can convert .txt files to .prg, and vice versa. I’d like to use this to convert some BASIC files from The C64 to text for printing and editing on my Mac. Is this even possible, given that the USB flash drive is formatted for the C64? It will appear on my Mac, but the contents are shown as one big document file. If I try to open that file, TextEdit does so, but it’s a jumbled mess containing some of my BASIC string data and a bunch of gobbledygook. Anybody know if petcat can do the job? Or if there’s anyway at all to save a new .prg file to a USB drive and “sneaker net” it to the C64? I get the feeling I’m barking up an impossible tree…
