I recieved this yesterday and updated to the latest firmware. It just freezes or sometimes glitches out after a few seconds of being on. It also asks me to setup the system, screen mode etc. every time, so it's not saving the settings.
Please help,
Thanks.

I forget, does the Maxi have a factory reset option? If so, try quickly getting to that menu item before it crashes and reset the system to factory default. Then I'd redownload the firmware update to be sure it's not corrupt and reinstall it. I'd also try a different USB power supply. Maybe the one you're using is faulty. Just make sure you use one rated at what they recommend in amps or higher to make sure it's getting enough amps. If none of the above works then you'll probably have to return it for a replacement Maxi.

Thanks for the reply. I've done the reset, removed the usb stick and changed USB power source. I played a few games and no issues so, I think it might be the USB not giving enough power. Maybe. I'll give it another workout later.

It crashed again so now I have plugged in the usb power with the plug provided. So far, so good. I'm wondering is there a way to swap joystick ports? A few games I've tried just aren't letting me control anything

You can swap ports on the mini or maxi by hitting two buttons in combination on the joystick. You can also have the game prematurely boot to the proper joystick by adding a file tag to it. And on the maxi I think you can also swap ports by hitting two keyboard keys in combination.

BTW too just to be safe I'd redownload and reinstall the firmware. If there is no factory reset to default to original firmware so you can reinstall the latest version again then I'd look into the methods some here use to reflash it.

The power supply is the problem. it is best to buy another one. Sometimes they are good but sometimes they are not. your best bet is to buy a raspberry pi power supply. Just make sure you have the correct plug. I also had problems with it and then bought the PI adapter and my problems were over. (the original one I had with it was 5v 1000mAH and that's way too little.)

On the topic of power supplies whenever having random crashes try a different cable for the same power supply too. I was just cleaning the desk my raspberry pi gaming setup sits on and when I reassembled all the cables to set the pi back up suddenly I was getting a low power lightning bolt symbol on the screen when the pi was running games. I figured it must be the supply getting weak and tried swapping out several, which is a minimum of like 2.5 amps roughly for the 3B+ I think. All of them were still showing the lower power warning. I was starting to think the pi was going bad because I had cleaned the case with Windex and might have fried a port or something. Then it dawned on me to try a different cable and no more low power warning.
