hello, I'm very much hoping this is the topic to be in. I'm very new to the community and Wanted to say hello first. My background is hardware mostly designing and figuring out problems and workaround. I have a C64C because I always wanted one when I was younger but my parents could not afford one. Now I'm older and have a C64C I wanted to do something with it. I love taking old vintage computers and giving them new life. So I wanted take my C64C and have chat on it like I use to do when I was yonger back in the 90s. I use to be on a lot of text chat.
I also work with Arduino as well as the esp8266 and Esp32 micro processors. I'm by no means a programmer or coder. My skills are in hardware. I can follow directions as well I have enough basic coding skills to get me by or atleast learn.
I'm asking the community for help in pointing me in the right direction on how I can get started in making a C64 chat maybe using an esp8266 or esp32 As I have been seeing over the internet. A lot of sites I have been to only talking about chat clients and how to connect to someone server. What I would like to do is run a server for myself as well as a client.
I really need help to what to beging and where to look at to get started. please community help me to figure this out?

If nobody can help you here you might try the Lemon64 forum. Tons of people on their hacking the original C64 with new hardware. Most of the technical content on here is about the Project Carousel software mod for the new C64 mini and maxi.
