Hi All,
Going crazy trying to get this to work. After having issue, decided to start over and this is what I have done so far:
- Formatted 32GB USB drive - Installed PCUAE Manager, latest version - Asked if wanted to download PCUAE, said yes, latest version (it downloaded on its own 1.9.1b7) - Installed it to my USB drive - I imported the Onloaded64 folders, into PCUAE Manager, to Favourites 2-7 - Exported to USB, all those by selecting Favourites 1-7 - Turned on the C64 Mini w/USB connected, loaded to standard fw, chose settings, info, update. - It ran the typical autoboot, I select yes for it to get installed, etc. and it did that. - On reboot, same thing as I initially experience happened: I get the official splash screen, then the PCUAE splash screen, and then music goes away and it just freezes there.
So auto boot seems to fail/freeze...
If I shut the console off, and then switch back on again, the same behaviour happens (Official Splash screen, PCUAE splash screen, then music off and freeze).
If I shut the console off, disconnect the USB drive, switch it on again, and then insert the USB drive and run the update, I do get in PCUAE mode and can run games, **BUT**:
If I want to switch carrousels, I get into the carrousel changer, and upon selecting a different carrousel, it then goes to black screen and freezes as well...
W T H ...?
Thanks!

Adding: Saw there was a slight difference in size between 1.9.1b7 the manager downloaded and the one I had downloaded manually, so tried with that one, same behaviour.
Did not even add anything extra now beyond just exporting Favourites1, but starting the machine after having enabled autoboot, and with the USB drive connected it just freezes on the PCUAE splash screen...

Adding #2... Went back to version 1.8.5bf10. Now it seems to work initially, autoboot boots into PCUAE fine, but I still have the issue that carrousel selector gives a black screen... It doesn't freeze as *something* is still running in the background, and in fact menu+right fire gets me in the PCUAE options menu, and exiting sends me back to the carrousel, but of course it's not a nice way to get around. Anybody know what version I should use on the mini that doesn't have all these issues..?

did you update the autoboot in the firmware when trying lastest one ? Well, the latest one was the first one I tried, so there was nothing to update. However, when switching I did remove the autoboot from firmware before trying a new version. If you check the last post I made, with that version at least it boots now, but changing carrousels is broken (and when I do manage to get back to the carrousel, it does not display all the games it contains -yes it's under the limit-).

Sorry not replying, been busy with PCUAE's baby... Can I see the log file in `USB:/Carousel_Games/systeminfo/` folder please, add them as Attachments, the txts file should be called`pcuae-autoboot-mode-boot-log.txt`and or `pcuae-fakeupdate-boot-log.txt` It should show me what its doing wrong.

Seems to be a fatal problem with the Mini version of the new PCUAE software. Hoping the bugs gets fixed soon.

I just tested PCUAE on mine, THEC64 Mini and it load up first it, mine is the PAL version.
I make another update with the PCUAE version thats on my SD Card thats runs on THEC64 Mini.
I let you know when it up.
If you have a problem with PCUAE, please send me your log file, it in Carousel_Games/systeminfo folder on your USB Stick, I can not see what wrong if I can't see it, it shows me the PCUAE boot up sequence on your machine.

This page changes the firmware to match the type of your machine you are running. I remember my mini would not launch games and just went to a black screen unless I had previously selected a version that was suited for it. This was quite a few versions back though and was a pal machine. joystick - Menu+Left Triangle Button – Carousel Version Changer – Change to a different Carousel version(1.0.5,1.3.2,1.5.2,1.6.1). Make sure its one for the ntsc mini and not maxi or vic20

Hmm.. not really sure what that is on your screenshot, as my carrousel changer shows up graphical/thumbnails, but in any case I only have the one right now, "Favourites 1". Your getting Carousel Version Changer confused with Carousel Gamelist Changer, 1. CTRL+F3 - `Carousel Version Changer` is where you can change to different versions of the Carousel so `1.3.2` to `1.6.1` 2. CTRL+LEFT SHIFT+F7 or Menu+LFire button on the C64 Joystick - `Carousel Gamelist Changer` is where you can change the gamelist thats shown in the carousel so `C64 0 to G` to `VIC 0 to G`and it shows the gameslist as thumbnails. I put back The Help Menu so you can press CTRL+F1 to see what keys do what... it's in the latest version v1.9.b8, I realised its handy if you have no way of getting the wiki up so if you have no internet or can not use the PC at that time... It still uses Yaft as its console, so it feels retro... Ah you gave me a clue, so the black screen is only doing it on the NTSC model, I do not have THEC64 Mini NTSC to test PCUAE, only the PAL version of THEC64 Mini, so it's a shot in the dark if PCUAE the carousel will work on the NTSC Model, but it might be cause its using the carousel from the PAL version, will have to look into it.

Ok, I will test the latest one and in any case post the logs. One thing I also noticed both with new and old was when I did get it to work (launching manually) that it was not showing all games. For example a carrousel has 240 games but only 149 will show (and when it happens it's always 149) Lastly one other thing I mentioned before but repeating in case it helps: When I select a carrousel, and the screen goes black instead of going back to the carrousel/game select screen, something is still running, because if I press the combination for the PCUAE menu, it appears. And quitting that then takes me to the carrousel/game select screen.

Try and change to the correct firmware for your machine. ( there maybe not one for the ntsc mini but Nick may be able to help with this?
joystick - Menu+Left Triangle Button to access the Carousel Version Changer & Change to a different firmware Carousel version that matches the type of machine you have (1.0.5,1.3.2,1.5.2,1.6.1). Make sure its one for the ntsc mini and not maxi. The firmware versions are -THEC64 Mini is (EU) Argent and (US) Shield, THEC64 Maxi is (EU) Amora and (US) Snowbird and THEVIVC20 is (EU)Ares

Edit: Ok, so changed it to shield 1.5.2 (that is the latest one shown on this version). Still boots up ok, but carrousel changer does not work (black screen after selecting the carrousel). Also, whether going from there to options menus and back to carrousel, or carrousel at boot, it is still only showing 149 games out of the 250 the carrousel contains.

It should be showing 250 games and the max for a unhacked carousel is only 150 games. Hopefully something may be sorted soon if someone is able to donate a ntsc mini for Nick to have a look at?

All I can think it can be is `PCUAE Firmware Mode`, it mounts its own firmware but it uses nandb from the ntsc version, it smaller than the pal nanb, so what I am going to do is disable it and see if it works without it, it should cause its using its own nandb from the firmware, I added so you can add stuff to its firmware without adding it to the real one, I can not test it cause I do not have THEC64 Mini NTSC, I wish I had one now, I only need the board inside it not the whole thing too, I have 2 THEC64 Mini PAL versions and a THEVIC20(you can see in my signature), THEVIC20 is the one I use most of the time when testing or adding stuff to PCUAE, I upload a new version here so you can test it on THEC64 NTSC and if it all OK then I up it to GitHub, `PCUAE Firmware Mode` will only be disabled for the NTSC model not the rest of the models cause it works OK in them...? PLEASE Add your Machine Model or Type to your signature plus when FW they are on, it's one of the rules here you need to add it, like me below... then I know what machines you have and I don't need to keep asking.. makes it easier.. Like: THEVIC20 EU(Ares) FW v1.5.2. THEC64 Mini PAL Silver Label(Argent) FW v1.5.2 THEC64 Mini PAL Engraved Label(Argent), FW v1.3.0. or like: THEC64 updated to v1.6.1. THEVIC20 updated to v1.5.2 THEC64 Mini updated to v1.5.2. THEVIC20-DIY updated to v1.6.1.

Uploaded new version and disabled PCUAE Firmware Mode on THEC64 Mini NTSC Model Ok, so partial success! Plus existing issue still there and a new(?) one The Good: - Formatted USB, installed b9, exported Favourites 1 - Powered on system, ran fake update, installed autoboot and went back to carrousel - I was able to see all games (I added more to be sure, about 226 total, and all appeared) - Shut down the system, turned on again, booted up fine and went into Favourites1 carrousel. The not so good: - Shut down again, removed USB and added all the Oneload fodlers - Turned the system back on, went to carrousel changer, it showed all of them and thumbnails, etc. I picked one, but again just black screen - *Something* still going on there, because while it is only showing a black screen, if I hit menu+right fire I am able to get into the options, and if I just select 0 / Exit, it goes bacl to the carrousel screen and the one displayed is the one I had selectec (and also showing all games in it) - Joystick swap (menu + a/b) not working. - First boot up, plus first shutdown and restart if I selected the USB icon, it said "Cannot read USB". After selecting the new carrousel and going through the above, if I click the USB icon it now shows the content properly. - Selecting the settings icon, I am not seeing the options to change model, etc. All I see is: USB Keyboard > Legal notices > System information > Shutdown device > Factory reset >

I do not have a ntsc model You can 'simulate' an NTSC model by replacing a PAL nandb with an NTSC nandb - it will still be 50Hz but that doesn't matter for the purpose of testing PCUAE.

The reason you do not see an option to change the model is that that option is not available on the Mini, only on the Maxi. That is incorrect... The mini *definitely* has an option to select the model between NTSC and PAL. As you can see in the picture, 3 options are missing. Attachments:

Boot up PCUAE until it can not load anymore then turn off THEC64 Mini, take out USB Stick and put in PC, go to Carousel_Games/systeminfo and copy log files there and link them here so I can download them. PCUAE boot up fine with the new version. The problem is when you go to the carrousel select screen, pick a carrousel and then it stays black. I can "fix" it by hitting menu + right fire to the to the options menu, and select 0, exit menu and then it goes back to carrousel with the carrousel I picked. But of course should not be that way and just go to carrousel after I select the one I want, right? Attaching logs! Steps before shutting down/getting logs: - Powered on machine - Carrousel came on - Pressed menu + left fire, carrousel changer screen appeared - Picked a carrousel -> black screen - Pressed menu + right fire, PCUAE options screen appeared - Selected option 0, exit menu, carrousel screen appeared (with the one I picked) - Went to settings -> shutdown Attachments:systeminfo.zip (4.43 KB)
