Wondering if there's a function in some emulators such as on RetroPie to flip or reverse mirror image the screen for a game? I've ran across a few scrolling games on the C64 and Amiga that look good such as Battle Isle for the Amiga but instead of the play field moving to the right they scroll to the left. I have no idea why somebody would want to write a game that way because it makes things very awkward and non intuitive trying to play the game.

For the 'full blown' VICE emulators there's a Flip X and Flip Y option in the Video Settings - Size settings menu: But it might not achieve what you want, you might need to switch left & right directions on the joystick.

Thanks for the info, and yeah I assumed you'd have to reconfigure the controller buttons assignments so left is now right and right is now left.
I should have been clearer though in my description. If it wasn't clear to anybody obviously we all are used to you moving your player on the screen to the right and so the landscape scrolls from right to left. It's rare but some games have you moving left and so the screen scrolls from left to right. Why in the world somebody would take all the effort to write a game and then have it configured the complete reverse of what most people are use to is beyond me. Just like the odd game you'll come across where your ship is at the top of the screen and you advance downward instead of up.

The first ever game I wrote (for the TRS-80 model I had a ship at the top of the screen and you needed to avoid meteors coming towards you from the bottom of the screen. This was because then I could use the automatic scrolling of the screen in BASIC...

I can't remember which C64 games do this but have seen some watching attract mode retropie videos. Some looked like cool games but I figured no sense in trying to play that game because of the awkward reverse mirror scrolling. Then I came across that Battle Isle game for the Amiga and thought man there's got to be a way to fix these stupid setups that don't follow norms.

I had the name wrong on that Amiga game. It's called Battle Valley, and actually I think it allows you to fly either direction because I found videos some scrolling right and some scrolling left. Unless others are just flipping the screen like I was asking if you could do in the first place, but at least in this one it's doing what I was talking about, moving left in the game unlike 99 percent of all scrolling games.
