Hi,
sorry bordering, but I installed Project Carousel on my C64 mini and after installing autoboot it shows only a black screen.
I have a C64mini without button for fel mode, but I use the red LED to go to fel mode, this just works for me. I can connect my PC to the C64mini and I can use the command line utility with a usb-Keyboard on the C64 mini. So I am hoping I can fix my C64.
I have all files for the machine downloaded and wanted to overwrite my nandb whit the recover-tool 1.1.
But I notied that I don`t have a Toshiba or ESMT nand, The checksum on my C64mini is for ato nand. I am in Germany and I can only find a nandb for NTSC and none for pal machines for ato. So my question: Can I use ato NTSC nand for my considered pal machine? And how can I upload this to nandb if it is possible.
Hope there is someone who can help me...

If I understand you correctly you have a PAL Mini with an ATO nand, right?
In that case you should be able to use an ESMT nandb copy to restore your nandb.
But if you are in FEL mode you after loading the nand driver you could also mount /dev/nandb to /mnt and remove the /etc/init.d/S95pcuboot script and see if that restores your Mini to working order.
Also, you can make a copy of your current nanda and nandb to a USB stick first, if you have a USB stick inserted and the nand driver loaded:
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt dd if=/dev/nanda of=/mnt/nanda dd if=/dev/nandb of=/mnt/nandb To restore a nandb from a mounted USB stick:
dd if=/mnt/nandb of=/dev/nandb

This happen to me and it should be fixed in the last update, if you didn't remove PCUAE Autoboot Mode, all you need to do is install pcuae1.8.5bf6-setup.exe to your USB Stick then Autoboot PCUAE and deactivate autoboot Mode and then activate it and then the firmware carousel should work again.

Hi,
thanks to your help my C64 mini works again. I have done following:
I installed nand-driver an go to etc/init.d/
there was a SZZpcuboot script, no S95pcuboot, after deleting SZZpcuboot the machine starts again. If someone is interestet in my nand for investigation, I will copy it to usb and I can upload it for invetigations
The Version of pcuae on my stick is 1.8.5bf6

It would be nice to have a copy of /dev/nanda and /dev/nandb as this is the first PAL ATO Mini I've heard off. Also a copy of the entire NAND would be nice as well. For this you need to ensure you have not loaded the nand.ko driver and then probably (assuming it is the same ATO nand as used in the NTSC Mini, ID 90 00 9B F1 00 1D: nand_rw 50 2112 read_full 0 65535 C64Mini-PAL-ATO.bin If your ID is different please post it and I can provide the correct command.

I do not know why but I change the name from S95pcuboot to SZZpcuboot and it stops the S99redqurak from working, mine is works now, I had to tell the carousel in the SZZpcuboot to run the64 when it see there is no USB with PCUAE or on it otherwise it does not run it automatically and get a black screen, I think it the nohup it does not like, that line does nothing when I add it to SZZpcuboot, the carousel does not load, it only loads if you type the64 &

Sorry for my late answer, but I had to work long yesterday...
The ID is the same as in NTSC Mini I thought, but I am not shure if it is a true pal machine. I ordered it by Amazon.it (Italy), perhaps they imported a NTSC Machine? My TV supports all TV formats so I can't say if it is pal or ntsc. I can't remember if I switched between pal or ntsc in the original menu... The ID is: 0x9B 0xF1 0x00 0x1D 0x9B
The C64 mini always showed the black screen, regardless if a USB stick was plugged in or not.
I think I need to elaborate a bit more on my explanation. I have made a new installation on a new USB stick. The mini had not been changed before. Before the installation, I set the firmware to version 1.6.1 and tested it. Then I used the Installer 2.5 to write to the stick and the various Rom Packs with the all-in-one package. After the carousel worked, I wanted to have a look at the Atari mode. If I had understood everything correctly, I had to install the autoboot script for this. After writing or while writing the autoboot-script, the mini got stuck and I switched it off about 15 minutes later. After that, I only saw the black screen.
I am not shure If I should install it again, perhaps it was only a random accident, or could my usb stick be incompatible?
