Im using the latest PCUAE since I needed the fix for the broken boot problem. That is working now for me. I trigger the mode changer by accident and went into atari mode. Fine i figured i try it out and it was good. Now i wanted to go back so i triggerd the mode changer again. It correctly detects my mode installed, but when it starts the second screen it throws up an error at line 304 for syntax error at the token newline. It then reboots back into atari mode.
Is there anyway to breake the cycle and get back c64 carousel mode?
Another minor issue im having is with joystick swap. Im sure i to need use the other port for some games, but the only mentioned way ive seen is for menu+a or b.
Ive tried a second joystick but it seems to have just taken over from the c64 stick.
Update: looking through the start.sh i figured out the file being checked for the mode to be enabled so i deleted it from the atari mode folder and im back to the c64 pcaue. There might still be an issue with the mode changer though.

Ive tried a second joystick but it seems to have just taken over from the c64 stick. If you use 2 joysticks then the joystick you start the game with (by pressing the firebutton at the Carousel) will be assigned to the default joystick port defined in the TSG file for the game, and the other joystick will be defined as the secondary joystick port defined in the TSG file. So you could try to start the game with one joystick and see if it plays with the other.

thats what i was hoping might happen but for example in dino eggs neither joystick did anything. I checked with Dino Eggs from PCUAE which has as TSG file: A:Leonard Bertoni E:platform Y:1983 F:games/DINOEGGS.vsf.gz C:covers/DINOEGGS-cover.png G:screens/DINOEGGS-00.png G:screens/DINOEGGS-01.png X:64,sid6581,driveicon,accuratedisk J:1:JU,JD,JL,JR,JF,SP,CM,F7,CM,EN,RS,P,CM,, J:2*:JU,JD,JL,JR,JF,SP,CM,F7,CM,EN,RS,P,CM,, It works straightaway with the joystick I start it with. If I press menu+b it switches to the other joystick. Great game btw :-)

Mode changer also not working for me after clean install with pcuae1.7.6b6 on the Maxi with firmware 1.61. Keeps throwing out the error (screen shot below) "tmp/bash: line 304: syntax error near unexpected token \newline/" and then reloading the carousel, also tried it with earlier carousels to the same effect. Reverted back to 1.7.3b and all is working again.

Its fix in the next version, PCUAE has a backup shortcut so it can go back to PCUAE Mode if you need it to, if the menus do not work, just press and hold down CTRL then press F3 then it will boot into PCUAE Mode.

The last version before this also not working. I have never get the Mode Change working as i can never reach the menu. Tried reinstalling different thumbdrives multiple times for days, nothing works.

I think the reason i am getting error about the "unexpected token" thing, is it because it fails when i tried to setup the autoboot using CTRL+F7 in the first place? This is the screenshot i get. Thank you. Attachments:
